It's a 10 minute job. Get to it from above the passenger foot well behind the glove box. Three screws. I think they are 10mm hex and the plate drops down. You have to work the filter in, it's a bit tight. It only goes in one way.
Either activated charcoal or plain will work but since Mercedes doesn't provide a 2 filter mode anymore with the charcoal filter alternate you'll want the charcoal filter for it's increased ability to filter odors out. Buy from OReilly, NAPA , order on Amazon or AutohausAZ.

All the sites above no longer exist. Does anyone else know of a diy site to replace 350 cabin filter?

Two things first, post 23 in this thread is a video that is the same procedure and second the attached is from the Mann filter site.

No offense but next time do a little research before you post and ask others to do the work for you.

2013 cabin filter and RUDENESS

In fact I did do my research. The video was for a 2010 not a 2013. Since the under dash does not look the same I wanted to see instuctions that were for MY vehicle before screwing things up. As I states other clickable sites were no longer available. Thanks for the pdf though it will help a lot but no thanks for your rudeness. It makes you sound extremely immature.

I tried the link and got the video that did not pertain to my car to .Some people are rude, by nature . For rudeness 101 look at the US Vette forum, but the CDN Vette forum is very different .I had 7 of them , I will never buy another by the way.

Although I said no offense I guess that didn't mean anything and I should change my mind and say that I did mean to offend you.

The fact of the matter is the filter is the same from '10 to '13 and so is the manual from Mann Filters. The filter sits in he same place and if you can't figure it out I would leave it up to someone who knows what they are doing.

So let me see if I understand, you think people from the US Vette forum are rude and they are not in CAN. Not sure what that has to do with the MB forum. But trying to understand your point of view it sounds like you had 7 Vettes but would never buy another because of the rudeness of people on the US Vette forum, right?

You know that we on the forums try our best to help others but we all expect everyone to do their homework before posting. But most unfortunately do not and we find so many threads with the same questions and think when we answer it sounds like we are trying to be snide. That is not the case but you are entitled your opinion. Even if you are wrong.

I will not buy another Vette because I had my fill of the ride and not being able to drive it all year around, not because of the forum.I belong to the Benz forum to learn and help others NOT to criticise others . End of discussion with you!

It's too bad on two fronts first because it took you 7 Vettes to figure it out and spent all that money and secondly, it doesn't sound like you were helping "vinnieg". I thought that is why you joined the forum. Don't be upset just move on.

Does the Mann CUK29005 have 2 holes at the shorter end similar to the OEM filter for the 2012 GLK350? I peeked into the filter hole and noticed 2 metal prongs.

The Mann CUK2551 mentioned earlier in the thread does not have these 2 holes and thus will not work for the 2012 GLK350.

The CUK2551 is obsolete in the Mann filter line and was replaced by the CUK29005

I spoke with an autohausaz rep yesterday as I bought the CUK2551 from them 2 years ago. I bought several cabin filters knowing that it is the same for the W204 and X204.

I sent him a picture of the OEM 2012 GLK350 filter side by side with the CUK2551. He confirms that what they have on stock for the 2012 GLK350 does not have the 2 hole cut outs.

Here is a the side by side pic for reference.

Is that just paper or also activated charcoal? Spend a few dollars more for the activated charcoal to eliminate the odors. Plain paper will do nothing for odors.

Doh!...
Oh well, I guess I saw the OEM piece and pulled the trigger without thinking...I'm sure it will be ok but, I will definitely get the activated charchol next time...

Anyone know of an aromatherapy cabin filter?

Just wanted to give my own take on this - I found it to be a pain in the *** to change this filter. I've changed the cabin filter on countless vehicles over the years and this was by far the most difficult of the bunch.

Next time I'm just going to pay the service shop to change it for me.

I have to say that overall, changing the engine and cabin filters on this vehicle are by far and away the most complicated of any vehicle I've ever worked on and I've owned lot's of car brands (Acura, Audi, BMW, Ford, Honda, Lexus, Porsche, Toyota, VW, etc)...

What was the difficult part? I think when I did mine, it took 10-15min and was much easier than expected. I just followed the paper manual that came with the filter.

The engine filter is a bit more work than it should be, but it needs to be done only every 4 years of so.

I found it really tough to get the little metal clips released on each side of the filter lid, and then impossible to reinstall said metal clips. I ended up just having the filter held in place by the plastic slider only (which seems sufficient to me anyway).

I also managed to break the plastic cover that holds the footwell light - the instructions made it look like this was supposed to come all the way out before moving the bottom carpet, but it's really the opposite.

I don't know if maybe they changed things for the 2013+, perhaps this is why the trouble.

Mann Filter CUK 29 005

Anyone used the newer Mann replacement cabin filter CUK 29 005? It looks like it is shaped slightly differently at the narrow end compared to the original MB filter and the previous Mann replacement as well.

For the 2012 GLK350, the CUK29005 will not work as the OEM cabin filters has 2 holes (see pic at post #38).

Before purchasing a replacement first check what is installed.

Sorry I should have been clearer. I was asking about the cabin filter for a 2010. I saw your post about the holes and fit for your 2012.

Thanks.

Curious... can someone tell me if I understand the differences between Service A and Service B correctly?

Service A
Oil Change
Oil Filter change

Service B
Oil Change
Oil Filter change
Brake Fluid change
Cabin Filter change

I understand there are a bunch of "inspections" that need to be done also... is this that important?

Thanks!

That's what I did yesterday for 20k: Oil and Filter change (using Mityvac evaluator), Brake Fluid change ( with Pentozin using Motive power bleeder), checked Cabin Filter ( it was clean, so I did not change it), Added DEF ( for my diesel), Tire rotation ( every 5K) with tire presume adjustment, and finally Maintenance Indicator reset.
Day before that I went to the dealer with coupon for a free Inspection, which showed no any problem exept low Battery charge, which was fixed at home by CTEK 7002 battery charger.
Forgot to mention new windshield blades every year.

Service B includes inspection of brakes and tire rotation at my dealer (for extra 50bux).

Brake fluid and cabin filter get also replaced at 20k, but they are separate items at my dealer.
