GLK with 20"x9" Rims & 245/45/20 tires
Question 1) Will the 245/45/20 be a good fit for the stock 20" rims, given it's 10mm wider and about 3/8" taller?
Question 2) Ebay has this really nice 20" AMG styled rim for the GLK I am considering but the offset is 50 instead of stock rims' 45. Pls correct me if I am wrong, I am assuming the 50 offset will push the rim towards the struts by 5mm, this plus the 5mm from the tire (5mm wider per side) will push the tires 10mm towards the struts. Will this 10mm inwards cause any rubbing against the struts or anything?

2) I don't remember which way offset goes but if you are correct that can be fixed with a spacer I believe.
Ppl on this forum put 22 inch rims with 265 tires with no problem so gotta work.
If so then a 9" wide wheel w/ a 50 offset would add 5m from offset, approx. 6mm (about 1/4") from the 1/2" wider 9" rims, plus 5mm from the 245 tire so wheels would be pushed out a total of 16mm for a wider stance, which is nice. Someone please check my calculations.
Don't want a 22", too costly and ultra low profile tires can't handle the potholes here in NYC as you know.
I think were right first time, based on the link above positive offset moves hub outward which means your wheel would move inwards.
Keep in mind that 9.5 inch OEM wheel with 57 offset is for rear only and there is plenty of space in the back. I doubt that wheel would fit in front.
I hear you on the potholes, thankfully I was able to steer clear of them, but the roads are terrible
