11 GLK350 4Matic
Noisy Cabin at highway

Just picked up a new 2011 GLK350 4Matic. I noticed a significant noises in cabin from speed > 35 mph to highway speed. I read a lot reviews/comments talking about how quiet the GLK350 is. But I did not notice this. All passengers complained higher wind/road noises than expected. Took to service and manager said it was normal. But to be honest, it is not any better than 98 accord which is known for "noise".

Want to see if it is the case for you. Do your rate GLK350 as quiet? Is 4matic or not making big difference in noise? Wondering if it is because of the continental 4x4 tires? How about the pana roof leading to more noise? Thanks.

I'd prob say its your tires thats causing more road noise. My 20" Pirellis are quite good interms of cabin noise/road noise. I mean it wont be zomg quiet (you get a S class for that) but its enough.

Considering the amount of glass in the vehicle I would say that mine is fairly quiet. It is a CUV not a sedan.

Check the vents to see that they are all closed. Check the sunroof as well. Check your AC settings. Check your air pressure. Check your altitude....

Have you seen how steep the windshield is? That's a huge cause. I drove one and noticed it was a bit louder than expected also. The car is just very boxy. It's pretty quiet for its shape.

It is steep. Logic would tell you that means its not as aerodynamic...resulting in more noise.

Mine is fairly quiet I suppose, but I'm sort of biased, since my last car had a huge turbo and exhaust on it that you had to practically yell to talk to passengers. In the GLK I can actuallly have a conversation without having to raise my voice.
