I like how you painted the chrome bezels on the fog lamps...very nice...It really looks good on your black GLK
if I ever get around to it, I think ill take out the plasti-dip and paint it gloss black...the plasti-dip works and looks great but I do like seeing a shine on that grill

I paint matched everything that was not black and I also smoked the fog lights and tail lights too. I was thinking of smokeing the head lights too

Started on the grill removal on my 2010 glk using CJBROWN s instructions. I was able to remove the intake part, rubber seal, and found the rear tabs for the top trim plate but could not find any other tabs for the upper trim plate and could not remove it. It seems to be stuck. What am I missing? Frustrated..... Any help appreciated !!

Black out Satin Black

Thanks for the thread. I used the disasembly post a lot and took my time to be sure not to break any tabs. I used this Rustoleum Universal Satin Black spray on everything but the emblem star. Came out really nice and matches my rims perfectly.

Excellent!

I traded mine in last year for a Subaru...it got the same treatment. The chrome grill surround and cross bar just looked silly - all the trim and wheels on this car is black. The chrome had to go...
Now I need to do the coupe next to it, wifey's car.

No I was unable to get it apart? Not sure what I'm missing? My GLK is a 2010, I doubt the tabs are located in different positions than a 2011?

Any advice ?? I was debating whether to just tape everything off and then plastidip with the grill on the truck but if I could disassemble the grill it would be much easier

Well let's see, that was 3 years ago...at my age I can hardly remember my name. LOL

The entire grill assembly is held together with little plastic tabs. Once you get all the little screws out it just un-clips. You just have to locate all the little tabs. Perhaps get a mind set like a german engineer. LOL.

So it's been about 40,000 miles or so, and driven the car cross country encountering lots of different terrains and nothing seems to wear down the plasti dip grill...and there have been occasions where I'm stuck behind a construction truck or on a highway where a pebble or two have struck the grill...and yet nothing seems to affect the awesomeness of the plasti dip! Lol

I wish the original DIY pics of grill removal still existed. I don't know if it would help with my GL, but it might. Anyone still have those pics saved somewhere they can post?

Does anyone know if the 2015's grill is stuck with metal rivets? I have been trying for a good hour to get the 3 taps loose and remove it. It's not moving and feeling from the bottom there are metal rivets. So I don't know if they are holding something on the bumper or the grill. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

It three tabs with the center tab a little tricky as you can go through the front with a pry tool. The sides are push down.
