2012 M-Class Has Similar Lines As GLK
At least from this angle (1st pix) the side panels of the new 2012 M-Class does show a resemblance to its smaller brother, the GLK. I kinda like it. Trade up may be in the works!

Though it is a German site, but I'm sure you will be able to browse through the pictures. Look for the "forward/back" arrows on top of the first picture.

I had a high expectation on the upcoming M class. however, this is disapointing. it looks too plain as some said and to me it looks more of a van. I dont think this will keep up with the redesigned X5

2012 ML skid plates
Autoblog did a first drive of the 2012 ML BLuetec version on the 18th.

One of the new exterior design features that puzzled them was the rather large chrome covered PLASTIC skid plate on the front end. I know plastic air dams are a common lower font end items nowadays and can be made fairly rugged. But to rename this chunk of excess chromed plastic a skid plate is embarrassing. Skid plates like the one on my pickup are quarter inch thick steel plate and placed underneath critical engine parts to be functional not shiny and cute.
I fear this SUV was designed to be cute for suburban female buyers!
