Without a console shift selector, the paddles are now a necessity even though the tranny is a slouch. I like the steering wheel, much better than what we have now, but the size of the round vents are slightly overpowering. I'd prefer removing the lower door chrome trim but it does tie into the front and read chrome. The sloping nose is a little too bird-beak for me but I could live with that. I'm really interested if they updated the steering geometry and overall road feel. Did they incorporate electro-assist or is it still back in the 18th century?

All this talk, talk, talk, bicker, bicker, bicker. Here's my response to the 2013 GLK :
I just bought out the lease on my 2010 (and installed a Curt Hitch, and ultrasonic backup alarm.)
Thanks, MB for providing a clear choice and helping with my decision.

Other than minor styling preferences, I am willing to call out anyone that doesn't find this interior a massive improvement over the previous one a blatant liar. I have driven the 2011 model of this car and the interior was cheap and underwhelming. This new interior is actually excellent. (final decision to be made when I sit in the actual production car) I wish that they had kep the square air-vents also, but other than that, this is as big of an improvement as has occured in the C class sedan for the 2012 MY refresh.

No, having driven the 2011 and 2012 C350 and seeing how big of a difference there was in that refresh is. This is the same.
Btw, this update bring a better screen, updated nav software, a colour centre screen, more modern controls, etc. Not sure why you are so focused with control knobs and bling!

I'm not...maybe others...but I don't speak for them.
My inclination is that I think this is a good refresh & update mid life for the GLK but it's not really game changing. Too many things that are similar to the old interior & exterior with just a little bit different shaping or small riff; but shouldn't be a difference maker for people on the fence between 2012 & 2013.
Fortunately, for people who really care about overall performance & value - "massive improvement over the previous one" is your opinion not fact that's shared by others.

You really need to give MB credit for making significant changes. Unlike Honda who, after 6 years, made the smallest of improvements to the civic.

Ok, lets leave the interior (btw I forgot to mention how much better the new wheel is), what about the engine? More than 30+ hp while being more economical? Addition of advanced electronics such as fully automatic parking?

Body styling is minor but better, interior is significant. If about the same price a much better value for your dollar.

sorry - I think update is awesome!!!
First time posting but had to chime in....
All in my opinion:
Was considering a GLK for a while but gave up and started to look at an X3 M. I thought in terms of appearance, the whole vehicle lacked the strong presence you would expect from a MB and I felt the interior, particularly the steering wheel, console, vents, nav screen all felt a bit cheap and less substantial than competitors. ( the nav screen in the X3 is pretty sweet!)
Again, in my opinion, the new interior does look to be a "massive improvement" - sorry but the 2 comparison pics totally sell me on the new interior and make the previous look tired. As for the exterior, the nose on the AMG package looks great and increased power along with improved fuel economy - what's not to like? My only disappointments are with the lack of change on the back end, which still seems dull - and it's safe to say I don't like the the shifter on the column ( your father's Oldsmobile ) but at least this 6'4" tall driver may now have a chance at seeing the climate controls.
I think I'm interested again and may pick one up this summer unless I can wait until next year for the diesel! ( throw a 6 speed manual in the diesel and that would be one amazing whip!)
That's my 2 cents

For sure - looks great and really is a difference maker for me as I had passed over the 2012 but will hold off on something else until I can see this one at the dealer!!
Looking at the pdf - is the amg package going to be available on the 350?
(if I cant wait for the diesel)

I didn't find it, but does anyone know if the new GLK has 2-zone or 3-zone climate? I like how the new C class has the option of getting a digital temperature dial for the rear passengers.

Styling whatever...It's a great day again in America for Diesels
You know, it's so hard in this country to find, much less afford a great diesel car or suv. You add up all the positive attributes and ask why, really, can we not have so many of the cars in Europe?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion...but geez folks. It's another great diesel, in America! I for one would love to have one. Now, if it's got that god-blessed "Eco" mode, I'd turn that off.

Looks like 3 zones to me, see photo. I see the digital display on the panel between the seats. Full video:

I for one would greatly appreciate getting a smaller sized SUV with a diesel powerplant. In regards to the DEF(urine tank) and run flats, when the ML was redesigned for 2012 it was my understanding they actually redid things so that it still uses the DEF but it now can have a spare tire which means no longer has run flat tires. I'd imagine given the weight of a GLK that they can't get past the use of DEF but should be noted the VW 4-cylinder TDI cars(with exception of Passat due to weight) do not use DEF. So it is possible to have a 4-cylinder powered diesel vehicle that does not need the stuff but again doubt the GLK will be one of those.

The GLK CDI BlueTECs have the fertilizer tank included and meet the EURO 6 standard - and as well the Californian.

So, do you think if this is the case with the North American C class also then? Bad deal for the rear passengers lol. People in the rear can at laest control the amount of air coming out of the vents, corerct?

The GLK CDI BlueEFFICIENCIes do not feature the urea tank and are compliant with the EURO 5 emission standards and US Federals, however not the more stringent Californian standards.

No, I don’t know, however noting that the size of the cargo compartment of the GLK is 15.9 cu. ft. flat for the 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY and the – BlueTEC, I assume run flat now is standard by looking at the MLs.
The old ML model cargo space was 19.5 cu. ft. for the “nonTEC” and 17.7 - for the BlueTEC, now being 24.4 cu. ft. flat for both. I will not be surprised if the new ML entry delivery as well is with run flat.
Run flat was even standard with our delivery July 2009 – spare “miniwheel” was optional, and ordered.

“For everyone’s enjoyment, dual-zone climate control filters dust and pollen as small as 0.0002" from the air.”
The THERMOTRONIC includes a display with controls on the console in the rear compartment, and as well sun - and air quality sensors.
