Such an awful headlights design... I'm sure many people with 0 sense of aesthetics will be pleased by them and by inclusion of "christmas lights" strips, but I'm glad that we didn't wait for this abomination when purchasing ours. Same goes for these awful round air vents on dashboard and the unnecessary removal of "traditional" gear shifter.

Agree-- If MB insists on huge circular vents, why wouldn't they use a tri-star design rather than a 4-spoke wheel. The 4-spokes look terrible beside the tri-star in the steering wheel. I really dislike the column shift lever, but I would appreciate steering wheel buttons or paddles.
I'd also add an item to the dislikes -- the ugly silver panel in the rear that houses the exhaust tips. It disrupts the rear lines too much and detracts from the previous clean lines. The phony front skid plate is also a laugh.

I think that was one of the reasons for the facelift... For example, on MBUSA's webpage they say something like "In a nod to the all-new M-Class, the new dash is spanned by a wide slab of wood and accented by available ambient lighting", which is kinda disappointing - if I wanted my car to look like M-Class, I would've bought the M-Class itself.

2010 GLK
One more vote against the vents. Pretty much indifferent to everything else, although an extra storage compartment is probably worth moving the gearshift, particularly if a manual isn't even a possibility.

Not sure about this.... I do like the paddles, but not the gear selector on the steering column. Plus way too much wood for my taste, and they failed to raise the climate controls... but may be easier to get to now that the console shifter is gone! Love the to have that more powerful engine, although I am not convinced they completely addressed (nor solved) the excessive carbon build-up issue that plagues most direct injected engines...
The front refresh is nice.... but I do like the my boxier look a little better.

So long GLK
I have had a diesel GLK on my short list since 2010. I waited patiently while MB updated virtually every other model during the past two years. We test drove a thirsty 2011 model in the jade green color we both liked and then MB eliminated that color and our second choice color for good measure. Now MB has uglified the front end with that awkward ML style snout & lower grill and oversized pseudo skid plate. The rear end silver pseudo exhaust diffuser is another poor design choice. Yuk.
The Bluetek version will probably have the urine tank where the spare tire should be and it will be equipped with run flats. Another horrible engineering compromise that the Germans seem intent on foisting on their customers.
My flame suit is on.

How could they?
That is one ugly dash with all that wood - makes everything else look small and those round vents look too oversize. No subtle elegance and balance left outside or inside. The GLK used to have an angular chiseled look - very distinctive- but now looks like a melted ice cube. I sure hope it looks better in person. I planned to buy one but now it is as ugly as the BMW X3. So dissapointed here!

2005 C230K Sport Sedan, 6 speed manual
I definitely don't care for the column shifter. I hope that gets changed back to a center console shifter ASAP. IMO, a console shifter feels sporty; the column shifter feels AARP. The rest of the styling changes seem OK to me.
Now where is my GLK Diesel with 6-speed manual transmission?
