Window "creak" over humps and bumps

Hi.

I just got my first Mercedes-Benz, a 2010 GLK350. The car looked brand new on the floor and I drove it and it was "put you to sleep quiet". However, after purchasing the vehicle and driving it around a bit, I started to notice an extremely minor window creak noise. It only happens when the windows are all the way up, and I'm driving on surface streets. On the highway the noise is not present at all. It sounds like the body is flexing causing minor movement in either the door seals or the window seals.

I'm going to take it in since it's still under factory warranty but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if there is an easy fix? I read that it can be related to tinting and that there are some clips that aren't supposed to be reused. I also read that someone used a bunch of silicone spray to fix the issue, I don't really feel comfortable spraying this stuff everywhere, and it smells.

Thanks for any suggestions, and I'm glad to have found a nice community of MB owners!

I have the same issue, a little disconcerting since everyone claims this platform is rock solid. I did use an UV protectant on the seals and I only heard it after I applied the stuff. I was going to try silicone as well but I apply it onto a small corner of a rag and then apply it to the rubber. That way it does not go all over the place and it does not smell since you are using so little. Don't confuse W-D 40 with pure silicone.

I ended up putting some Tri-Flo synthetic grease between the two outermost top door seals (on the back, non-felt side) with a q-tip (cotton removed), which took 90% of the noise away. I wasn't sure where to apply the lube but this seems to have been the G spot.

I have the same problem. 2011 GLK squeaks a lot during normal driving. Had the dealer look at it and they said it was "a common problem" and added felt to the inside of the door. Apparently the noise is from plastic on plastic rubbing together. This quieted it some, but I'm still not satisfied and am going to take it back again to have them address it.

Definitely not the quality (or lack thereof) I expected from MB.

I find it interesting how many noises, rattles, squeaks people report only to be told by dealers "That's normal." This is my first MB and am somewhat disapointed in the lack of attention to details like these and the frequent dealer uninterest in "making it right." Sign of the times. Short term profit trumps long time customer satisfaction. For a while, anyway.

I believe the problem is the door inner panel that touches the inner window glass....for some reason, that material rubs the glass to make noise.

Note that this noise should disappear if you roll down your window.

You're correct. I crack my windows sometimes when the noise is bad. MB needs to address this issue asap.

Out of curiosity, has anybody tried to lube their sunroof? I've noticed that during spirited driving, if I'm in a good turn, the glass sunroof will creak a little. Another thing I've noticed is that the sunroof will make quite a racket when you first open it, perhaps because the seals are kind of stuck? Can it hurt anything to lubricate the sunroof weather seal some?
