2012 GLK350
The shift lever on the 2013 has been moved to the steering column. I have not driven a car with a shifter in the steering column since about 1990. That was the main reason we went with a 2012, which has the shifter in the center console.

I prefer the console shifter, but the column shift is an electronic activator, not an actual shift lever, so it isn't really that bad.

It looks like

I'm going to get the 2013 Model. Since I don't off road or go to the snow, I'm going with the 2WD instead.

Anyone know what the best all around tires are?

I'm looking at tread wear, handling as the two primary (i know it's kind of diametrically apposed to one another), but I'm looking at getting Michelin Primacy. Anyone have any information that I should be aware of?

I'm planning on the Premium 1, Multimedia and Harmon Logic7 upgrades.

Unlike a lot of part time or FWD oriented "AWD" systems, the 13 GLK 4matic is a 45/55 f/r split until conditions get dicey. You may want to drive it and compare it to the 2 WD model before ordering. If it rains in your area the AWD is a useful option.

I think you are stuck with the tires that the car comes with. In our area you get V-rated summer tires with the 20" AMG package and symmetric tread A/S Contis on the 19" stock. At least they can be rotated properly. If you get 20" wheels buy wheel insurance!

The 4matic as good or better than an Audi without the J. Clarkson stigma.

It rains, but I pretty much stay off the roads as much as possible. I just know that AWD from my previous cars weren't that great in the MPG area, and when there is drivetrain problems it can get expensive.. i only drove in an SUV in the snow, ONCE and normally I don't. Off road? Normally I don't, except for maybe a smooth dirt road going 15 mph on a someone's driveway, but no up/down hill stuff. I am sticking with the stock 19 inch rims, I think going with 20" rims is kind of silly. Based on the reviews at TireRack, most preferred the Michelin, overall.

Anything I should know about?

I am planning on getting the Premium 1 option and still deciding on the others.

Any options I should stay away from or should have?

Thanks
Buy the Bi-Xenon Lighting Package. Don't ask why. Just do it. Do not think that you can add the Bi-Xenon after the purchase. You can not except at great expense. If you have to order the GLK to get the Bi-Xenon Lighting, just do it.

Cheers!

Is this the info.?

A revealing vision of the road ahead.

The brilliance of Mercedes-Benz innovation comes quite literally to life in the optional Lighting Package. Advanced Bi-Xenon headlamps feature Active Curve Illumination and new Adaptive Highbeam Assist, to put the most natural light where you need it most. Bright white LED Daytime Running Lamps and expressive new LED taillamps help you get noticed, day or night.

Ok. Granted. 2013 is Different. Yes, I'm a bit miffed that our 2012 doesn't have the 2013 headlight/parking/turn signal unit. However, the primary function-headlights-remains the same. Self-leveling, corner following, BRIGHT as daylight Bi-Xenon lamps. Like I said, buy the Lighting Package!

I agree, get the lighting package for sure. I have it on my 2010 C300 and it is great.

We also love Parktronic and Keyless go, both are on our 2013 GLK also that should be here in the next week!

Wish I could claim it. The credit goes to M-B and a talented illustrator. Photography was purely incidental and accidental.
The headlights are near clones of the 2012 M. Too bad the little SUV got shortchanged last year. On the other hand, some folks missed the 2012 M run entirely waiting for headlights and other parts in short supply.

The headlights in the lighting package also dip when a light source is detected ahead and will also widen the spread on dark roads. You can also turn on adaptive high beams which will only turn on when no light source is detected ahead and will adjust range depending on the vehicle ahead. Plus, they look AMAZING. I compared the non Xenon/LED headlights at the dealer and was sold immediately on the lighting package.

Below is mine with the Lighting Package and Appearance Package. I'll take more photos when the weather gets better.
