I think a lot of straight 6's have that sound and BMW is one of the few still using one much to their credit. I guess V-6's were all about "packaging" and engine length. They fit in a shorter space. I wish MB still used them.

Perhaps the twin-scroll turbo 3.0L inline 6 in my BMW M235i might equal or even exceed the E320. Sweet, silky smooth, major fast, under-rated.
