Are schaetztuning.de parts high quality?

Heya, I bought a CPO 2011 GLK350 4Matic 3 months ago, I wanted it before the new refresher came out, I don't like the front on the 2013. I'm a fan of boxier cars.

I'm considering buying these front air vents to upgrade my plastic ones. Has anyone installed these or purchased them from www.schaetztuning.de before? And if so, how is their quality?

I've googled them like crazy, with no luck on finding a single photo with them installed.

Three out of four of the little adjusters in the center of mine have broken. The dealer is replacing the vents but they have to come from Germany. Those look nice. I wonder if they are stronger than the originals.

Yes, Schaetz stuff is very high quality. I got some of their stuff on my 99 ML and they still look great today! And this quality is obviously reflected in their price as well.

So your originals broke, the ones that came with your car?

Here's a pic of the ones I've ordered, the exact ones, I had them email a photo so I can compare the wood grains to each other. I'm pretty impressed, I had thought about having mine painted glossy black, but didn't want to risk it with any shops in my area.

I will update when they're installed. BTW if you order these in the summer time, it nearly doubles the waiting time due to their holiday...I ordered them on 6/15/12. It said approximately 4-8 weeks.

Thanks for the responses guys.

Schatz-tuning Burl Walnut Front Air Vents

Here are my newly installed authentic veneer air vents!!! They're exactly the same plastics as my originals and they complete the dashboard look. Also, the wood grain matches perfectly.

I love the look of the more chiseled GLK350, that's why I purchased the 2011 before the new refresher, not to say the newer version isn't nice. I did feel the plastic air vents cheapened the whole feel of the car. I had debated on having them painted in high gloss black, but then I found these.

I will be purchasing the backseat air vent in the same wood grain from Schatz-Tuning.de soon.

I installed the middle vent myself, saved me $40 bucks, the left air vent requires taking the instrument panel off due to 3 clips on the side that meets the wood grain next to the steering wheel. The right air vent doesn't have the same clips, but was impossible for me to pull out.

The whole cost with installation was $590.00. $80 for installation and $510 for the air vents with shipping. Schatz-Tuning just lowered the price by $80, which helped me pay for installation!!!

Not sure if I will get the steering wheel done in wood grain, I don't want to go overboard and feel like I'm riding in a curio cabinet

Thanks for the thumbs up guys! I'm also debating whether to change the headliner to black. I like the idea of it, but not sure if it's worth it.

If you change the headliner to black, may as well line it in alcantara instead of the cloth that MB uses.

So I just got a bill from UPS for $20.00 for international tax/junk...guess my total was higher than I thought.

I haven't seen alcantara in person, maybe I'll pay a visit to the MB Dealership and see if they have it any models on their floor. They're trying to get me to buy a 2013 GLK diesel, haha, too soon!

BTW, if you read my post it looks as if I have the brain of a goldfish, I've managed to repeat myself quite a few times. I'm turning into my father, although he bought BMW's...maybe I'm smarter because I choose Mercedes-Benz!!!

In order to find a car with Alcantara, look at the higher end cars in the showroom. 65 AMG and 600s are guaranteed to have it. Some 63s and I think all or most new MBs with Designo interior package have it.

I got one of those as well from Fed Ex after I received some car parts from the Netherlands. Oh well.
