2013 GLK European Delivery
Looking to do ED on a 2013 GLK and pick up early June...was wondering how long before pickup would I have to place my order and if this timeframe would have any conflict with 2014 production models. I'd really like to wait and test drive a diesel before placing my order.
Haven't been able to find any information on ED invoice online, suggestions? Also looking for any experience/recommendations for an ED dealer in Northern California.

I'm doing the same thing with the new GLK250 for pickup last week of May.
Where in Northern Cali are you? I dealt with Mercedes of Rocklin for Euro delivery on a BlueTec E350 a few months back. Some of the specialists on Euro Delivery don't know squat. There's a guy at the Stockton dealer that's pretty sharp as is the guy at Rocklin. PM me with your email addy and I can give you a rundown. I tried about half dozen the last time and these two were the cream of the crop, and they didn't know as much as they should have. You'll have better luck with Barbara at MBUSA in their travel office, at least for the inner workings. I'll be happy to convey my experiences as I've done it twice. I'm working these two dealiers, and a couple more, to try to get a bit more discount than the 7% advertised.
It happens I got call from one of the guys yesterday. He still doesn't have more price info than what is available for the GLK350 but he's sure, as am I, that there will be a surcharge on the BlueTec's as there typically is, but he told me that production starts February 1, and that there is some sort of 'bonus' to ordering in the initial run. I don't care about that, but he did say delivery in the US would be in April making my target in May viable.
I ordered the last one in June for August delivery. My car was actually built and ready in July, but they ask for 3 months lead time, not sure why. In our case the cars are built in Bremen and trucked to the delivery center in Sindelfingen and that takes a few days. I'm sure you have plenty of time for your target delivery if you order by March.
If you need more info, PM me with your email and we can communicate privately.

EURO DELIV.
I euro'd my GLK from MB ESCONDIDO...Herbert, the Euro Specialist there, is German, worked for a large tour guide company for years in germany, and knows all the hot spots ,also, is well known at Sindelfingen/bublingen delivery dealership.
This is my 2nd EURO delivery w/ Herbert this year...absolutely flawless

I don't know about the diesel prices, but...you really will be happy w/ Herbert..I promise you..Also, you buy the MBZ anywhere in the states and have delivered to your local dealership,,or where ever you wish..no extra fees...Just got back..was freezing..shipped out of Paris...may, shipped out of nice...expect 10 weeks delivery for sure, maybe the full 12 , if you have any trip repairs..

Since it didn't interest me in that time frame I didn't inquire further about it. It may have been related to 'status'. Sorry I wasn't curious enough!

You mentioned you got Maryland "european plates" to fit the front holes.
I am confused. Did you get an elongated plate holder that will hold the standard American plate, or does Maryland allow the long thin plates?
thanks

hey guys, im new to the site.
I want to do the ED for the 2013 GLK, for yall that have done this before:
is the pricing better?
what about travel and stay, never been to GER.
would I be able to fully customize the GLK? ie, red leather... different exterior?
thanks guys

You order just as you would here, same equipment. Don't believe there is red leather. MB has a travel office which can help you. I've done it twice now and can render some assistance.
They advertise you get 7% off MSRP. Depending on the car you might be able to do better than that in the US, depending on the dealers you find.
There is basic info on the MB site. Check there and post any further questions you have.

The price of approx. $50 and booking could be an offer from your dealer.
