MB stock radio/sound
I just bought a 2012 GLK and am very disappointed with the sound. My issue is the adjustability [in this case - lack thereof of the tone] With bass at -10 there is still distortion. [my equalizer curve is a smile] Anyone familiar with this? Can the radio be replaced?

Unless its got the Nav system just replace it. Have not found too many standard factory systems that are really great. But then again it depends on your music preferences.

GLK Sound [Audo 20]
Thanks for the reply;
I did some research, including talking with MB in New Jersey, and reached the conclusion that it is very difficult [if not impossible] to "replace the system" as it is too integrated with the car. So I got rid of the GLK. The standard Audio 20 system is terrible. I wasn't being fussy but it is a very poor sound system. You're right the NAV system is good which I have in my E350wagon. I would caution potential buyers of any MB with the Audo 20 system to beware. Unless your only listening preference is talk radio or nothing at all, I would not acquire a vehicle with that system.

Wow you got rid of the car just because of the sound system??
There are aftermarket radio systems that will fit in the GLK. I know that I have seen threads here with others that have made changes.

GLK sound
The sound system was terrible so it killed what enthusiasm I had for the car which was shaky to begin with. Came out the other end with a better car and no regrets. If someone [MB] in this case would put such a poor sound system in the car the rest of it would be not so good either?
I am fairly sure that replacing it would not have been worth the effort. The old saying goes "putting perfume on a pig" and applies here.

If you are that much of an audiophile I am surprised you did not look into just upgrading the speakers.
Most poor sound quality results from cheesy speakers, in home systems as well as automotive.

That wouldn't have solved the poor quality sound and I am not an audiophile just like plain old rock & Roll like the Cars etc. Practically elevator music today?
