American to European
Hey everyone,
I own a GLK (American specs) but I live in Bahrain and the radio here 90.0 90.2 and so on, is there a way I can change my American radio system to European? If there is an easy way to do that then I will go for it, but if it turns out to be complicated then I'll just pass.
Thanks

I would think that the radio can be flashed by an MB dealer. Maybe one of our EUR or Middle Eastern friends can chime in.

Did you find a solution yet?
If not, then you can try these steps below (maybe it will work).
Please becareful when change the options in here.
It might mess up real good.
1. Accessing to "engineering mode" by holding HANGUP, #, 1, 3 buttons together for a few seconds.
2. Go to option 7 for "HW setting"
3. Go to 7.3 for "Market/DVD setting"
4. Go to 1 for "ECE/US/Japan"
5. Choose "ECE"
Go back all the way out.
Remove key and turn off command system.
Wait for 5-10 minute then turn on command system again.
That's it. (I think)

Couldn't get the 1st step, red button + # + 1 + 3 and also tried the hangup in the steering wheel but didn't get anything

Try to press all these buttons on the command unit.
You might have to hold them for 5 to 10 seconds, then you'll see the screen changed to "engineering mode".

Probably can change from the engineering menu interface by holding Phone hang-up, 1 and # for 10 seconds Try 7.3 "Market/DVD setting" You probably can switch to European market and also the DVD player to the proper market. Haven't been in there, and remember you can probably only change the DVD, I think 3 times. That is the way it is on most computers.

Thanks bop11 for correcting. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
It is a combination of HANG UP + 1 + # buttons.
Somehow I've got a 3 in the mix, but it works for me too.![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
When you change this setting, it will change the DVD region code, video format to PAL and the radio bands.
About the DVD region code, I think it can be reset once it reached its maximum numbers of allowance.

okay, try this... it may or may not work on your C63.
When you're at the screen where you're changing the DVD regions,
Do this: hold down "hang up" + "*" + "#" buttons for about 8 seconds.
Hope it helps.
