When I had the 3M installed on our 2010, not through the dealer I might add, it does cover the front fascia as well as the front of the hood, the front fenders & the mirrors. I might go back & have it installed on the rocker boxes to eliminate scuffs to the paint.

Hey guys- how much did you each pay for this? Just got an email from my dealer and my new 250 will be ready to go next week. They are trying to sell me the 'factory' 3m package for $999 (std pkg) or $1795 (deluxe pkg).

Trying to narrow down an aftermarket cost to get this done. Thx.

Do a google for the 3M Venture shield web page - do a 3M Venture shield dealer locator using your zip code - call and find a dealer that does a hand cut install - which will be MUCH MUCH better than a install of a computer pre-cut kit...

Can you elaborate on why the had cut install is better than the computer pre-cut kit? I have the latter & very pleased with the installation.

Hey Wabbit- how much did your install cost? The quotes I mentioned above were with pre-cut 3M packages. I called around to non-dealership installation shops and found that I can likely save about 25% going this route.

I called the dealer back and challenged the CS gal to come up with a better price...she said she'd get back to me. Sure would be much more convenient to have it done prior to delivery.

The cost was $750.00 in 2011, for the hood, front edge of fenders, headlamps & RR view mirrors likely similar to dimensions gkhela provides with the addition of the front fascia/bumper.

What you install really depends on the color of your car and where it is being used. Make sure your car is detailed as well as you can live with prior to installation because the film will not cover whatever may be defective on your paint.

You really want a custom cut so that you can cover as much of the edges as possible if not all of it. Have them wrap every edge that is possible. A few edges on the bumper can't be wrapped and the bumper has a couple small seams in it.

Recent pricing on a ML using Xpel. Flawless installation with the best guy in my neck of the woods.

Full Bumper - $500.00
Full Hood, Full Fenders, Mirrors - All custom with wrapped edges - $1400.00
Headlights and Fog Lights - $100.00
Roof Top and A-pillars - $180.00

Installation would take about 5 hours, but would recommend leaving the car for 1.5 days just to make sure all of the edges dry properly before the car leaves.

Thanks for all the info guys, my dealer just emailed and will match the prices of the aftermarket installer.

Anybody get the interior/exterior protection package? Supposed to protect the paint, never have to wax, protect interior leather and floors etc from stains and cracking. The dealer installer has offered to apply the protection package without warranty for $375. With warranty it's approx. $1500.

Any better aftermarket options?

She also had good news...our GLK wasn't affected by the Calgary flooding even though the dealership is right downtown near the river. They've been closed for the last 2 days due to mandatory evacuation order.

No comparison between hand cut and computer kit - and hand cut from right Venture installer is not more than computer cut - computer cut is the way more dealers and installers make easy money.

Best "impact protection" is Venture - Xpel is good material, more "flexibility" around curves and the like - not quite the same "impact" protection as Venture...

Again, get a Venture pro install - frack the rest...
