Std. vs. LED lighting not headlamps

Our 2010 GLK has standard lighting, regular rear lights & round front fog lamps. Has anyone attempted to swap out the LED rear lamps & the LED front strip lamps from a year or two newer with the optional lighting pkg.? The latter will likely require the black backing plate too. Is this plug & go or is it more complicated than that? The best IMO is the the rear lamps with the yellow LED turn lights as found on the Euro market vehicles. Any help is appreciated!

I think you will need to find someone who knows how to program the rear SAM to work with the LED tail lamps. I have no experience in this, but if you search the W204 section who are doing the swaps, require SAM programing.

Thank you for the reply. Read through this link, all sixteen pages of it,
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...rofit-diy.html & the issues make it likely unfeasible. The SAM (signal acquisition module) is the bugger on the W204 model & likely the same would be experienced with the X204. The problem is with the programming of fog lamp activation.

Remember when all this stuff worked with switches? Easy to fix, easy to replace, lasted forever but all this junk is much better.
