Working a deal on a 250- Opinions Please
I'm looking to lease a base glk 250 bt with a couple options. 24 months 15k miles per year. I'm looking at doing a one time payment option and the best price I have gotten is $16,878. Msrp $40,855. Sale price $37,655 which is about 7.5% off. I have also gotten two other quotes for $19,899 and $19,437. Looking forward the highway mpg. Drove one today and fell in love.

700-800 bux a month? Do I read this right? That's insanity. You can lease $60k lexus for have that payment.
When my GLK came out the lease on fairly basic one was 499 a month (don't remember for how many month). Loaded like mine would have been 600-650 a month...I believe still with some money down.
I financed mine (44k sale price - invoice price) for 5.5 years with 10k down at 2%, so my payments were 625 a month. In 5 months the car will be paid off, and it's worth about 30k (25k if I go to trade-it in). So the car cost me $375 a month and I had an option to sell it at any time or keep it if I want to.

Let me restate that...the car would need to depreciate 50% in two years for you to be better off leasing it. I gotta be reading something wrong here.

Food for thought-the GLK250 is retaining its value very well compared to the gasoline version. The difference between the sale price and lease payment is less than $21K. If you bought it, at the end of 2 years, it would likely be valued much higher than $21K. (I know there aren't any 2 model year old GLK250s out there with 30K miles, so it's just an estimate based on the current used car prices.) $16K for 24 months of ownership seems high to me. (Again, it's only my opinion, which you asked for.)

Given complexity of the emission system to meet the US regs, I would be surprised if diesel remains reliable and hence retains its value better than the gasoline one.

I knew that comment would draw fire.
I am just looking at the used prices on autotrader.com. Yes, I realize that you have to pay somehow for better fuel economy, so the urea injection system is prone to issues as the vehicle ages vs. the gasoline model, since it doesn't have these parts to fail. Let's not discuss the AdBlue failures of the 2014 models.

Buy it, if it doesn't cause troubles keep it as long as you wish to. You can always go and trade it in or sell in private market at any point in time and not be forced to buy/re-lease car in exactly 24 months.
There are certainly benefits to leasing when you want to avoid the residual value risk. But in many leases it's so low to begin with that lease company always makes money on the residual.

I think there are some unstated assumptions here - such as how taxes work on lease versus purchase in the OP's home state - and one-pay inferrs "all cash in"...
In addition to the "lease payment" the one pay in most states takes care of apprpriate taxes for that state and 1st year registration - although in most states not 2nd year registration fee's.
There can be a "sweet spot" of advantage depending on MB's lease structure at time of delivery - at 27 or 30 months - with the understanding that MB "often" has early out available moving forward to another MB 3-4 months early - "sometimes" depending on model forward can be up to 5-6 months.
Current diesel owners do "claim" BT's "hold value more strongly than gas" - but frankly this has more to do with MB can and often does set residual a touch higher than gassers - which is elective by Mercedes financial.
Prepaid maintenance cost's for a lease can be a bargain so to speak - since the cost of a prepaid maintenance plan is a capitalized cost - so your "cash" cost paid in the lease is actually residual fraction.

I could've gotten more discounts had I haggled for a little longer. So you can definitely do much better than what you've been quoted.....

Going to pay cash. I'm 22 with no credit. I had a member on here send me a message saying he got a glk 250 with heated seats and premium 2 package for 37,500 otd. I'm not saying it's not possible but maybe him being in Boston and me being in Florida had more of an effect than I would think. He said he was using true car as well.

Not to mention you don't *need* 4Matic on a car in Cali/Florida. That explains a difference in cost that doesn't seem to be mentioned yet.

Mine is equipped the same, plus metallic paint. I didn't do quite as well, considering I had a trade-in with some equity. It's kinda hard to figure, but I got about 7-8% off MSRP.

Hey guys just picked up the car a few hours ago. So far so good. I sold my duramax on 37's to partially fund this ride. I'm 6'2 and very outdoorsy so 4matic was a must! I've always enjoyed driving a diesel. For a 2.1 liter this thing hauls and it's making the monster truck to regular car transition easier. I fit comfortably in the car with room to spare and my golden retriever has enough room in the trunk. If I didn't have a dog or do anything outdoors I can assure I would have left with the cla 45 on the showroom floor with all the goodies. It's a lot of car for the money. Driving to gun ranges on a regular basis isn't practical with a car since they typically don't have paved roads. I think 7-8 percent off isn't bad considering you had a trade. You paid extra for convenience.
