I'm swapping out my steering wheel for a 2013 W204 AMG flat bottom wood & leather wheel. I had to buy a new steering column module. Not too hard to get or have replaced. I'm waiting to post pics of mine after I receive the parts and it's installed. If you GLK is a 2013, you may not need a new module.

yea... I want the GLK to be more of a comfort cruiser and I have my subaru for the sports car driving experience... I`m not really feeling the three spoke sports steering wheel Merc uses throughout their entire range of products... I really quite like the ML AMG wheel with the nice real metal pedal shifters and a larger, more comfortable four spoke steering wheel shape.

Not as simple as it seems
I put an AMG flat bottom on my 2012. You will no doubt have to change the contact plate and the steering column module to get all the functions working including the switch lights. It was an easy job but frustrating getting the right parts so it all worked. Even though 2012 GLK's didn;t come with paddle shifters with the new wheel they work perfect - an unexpected benefit.

I opted to have the back lighting function at night, cost me an extra $400 for the contact plate/steering column module, $1250 for the new wheel and airbag.
I will pay to have it professionally installed, hopefully it will only be $80 for installation, assuming it takes them less than an hour. I'm excited, will post pics later.

I'm still waiting for my module and new contact plate, one hiccup, the wiper handle needed a back wiper switch. I'm working with zh.k on ebay.

John Michael has a nice write-up on this- he installed a wheel with the red stitching & it looked great IMO. Cool too that the paddle switches worked also, an unexpected bonus!

so I contacted the dealer here in OC and they told me that the swap is not possible... I asked for a more elaborate explanation so we`ll see what they say.

My new steering wheel!!! Technician said he had to change a few codes. For installation replaced contact plate, rear wiper switch and steering column module. Rear window switch was from a 2013 GLK, steering column module from a 2012 C Class. Haven't used paddle shifters yet, all lights work too.

wow the dealerhship came back and said it is illegal to perform the swap and will not give me an answer as to why it is not possible. I still think it`s an easy swap... I e-mailed Brabus to see what they say.

Steering wheel really improves the look! If this is installed on a 2010, whether the paddle shifters work will be interesting.
I am amazed at the stupid responses that dealerships will give customers. It is as if employee of the dealership believes the consumer just climbed out from under a rock. The classic is "Oh, they all do that." This not only degrades the customer but it also diminishes the dealership experience. This type of response is almost enough for me to consider purchasing another brand of vehicle. Consumers are more knowledgeable than ever before & dealerships need to get this through their thick skulls.

still awaiting on response from Brabus. I can see why fletcher-jones in OC would be coy on saying anything as they probably dont want to be liable for anything, but man i`m even more convinced that it is totally possible as they cannot give me a detailed reason as to why it is not possible.
it`s probably also some sort of politics that they dont want people easily swapping out to an AMG steering wheel without buying the AMG car.
