Owners who came from C250
Hi, considering a trade in for 2013 GLK350 with my 2012 C250.
Just wondering if any previous owners of C250 who purchased GLK350 could give me insights on the comparison between the two cars. I know its a completely different car, comparing apple to orange, but aside from the exterior/space/legroom.... I just wanted to know the ride quality, driving, and anything that comes to mind.

I went the reverse. Ride is smoother, IMO, in the GLK, and maybe quieter. I had a problem with the seats in the GLK, though. It "sat too high". It's not completely apple to oranges, as they are built somewhat on the same platform. The GLK is great quality (it was my first MB purchase, and wasn't a hard sell at all...I test drove it for 20 min, and bought it). I should have driven it longer though, as the seat problem developed over time.
It felt like my left thigh was being dug into by the edge of the seat bottom, and couldn't releive the pressure with seat adjustments. Very frustrating, but a lot of people can't find that perfect seating position regardless of what make and model they happen to be driving.
Everyone is built different, so it comes down to a matter of comfort in the end.

1975 450SLC 2012 GLK350
I had the opposite experience in my C300. We drove my GLK to Santa Barbara (7 hour drive) and I never felt numb or uncomfortable. I drove the C300 to Santa Cruz for Easter (2.5 hours) and felt like I needed to get out and stretch right away, which surprised me because the seats feel softer. They're both equipped with MB-Tex, black for GLK gray for C300. Keep in mind the GLK is my everyday car, C300 is spouse's. In the C you sit more "cupped" GLK more upright. What I like most about the GLK is you have better visibility and never have to worry about ripping off your front bumper when you park over a curb! C class does have less wind noise though.

I've rented a few c250. To me, I feel like I'm sitting in a bathtub and that my head is inches away from the rear view Mirror. Which is odd; I've never gotten this effect in say a 328i.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm gonna go test drive one soon, but the local dealer only gives us a lap or two around the block, which is obviously not enough to consider the similarities/differences.

If you're in a major metro area, see if Hertz offers the GLK as part of its Prestige collection. It's pricey, but driving the car for a weekend is worth it.

2014 GLK250 BlueTec
I went from a 2012 C250 to a 2014 GLK 250 BlueTec. Obviously the diesel is going to drive differently than the gas version, but I can give insight based on inside. I personally never had a problem with room in the C class (I'm 5'8" and all leg) but my boyfriend who is very tall had to practically lay down and roll out of the car, plus you cut off basically the whole backseat when you have tall people in the front.
GLK has better headroom, and a little more space between front and back seats. Trunk almost seems smaller in the GLK, at least to me. Tall space seems to be less valuable than deep space in a trunk, in my opinion.
They seem to drive pretty similarly to me.. Obviously the GLK sits higher on the road. I thought my C250 was a little quieter inside. GLK seems more "zippy" and smoother to me, and just more fun to drive. Steering is wayyyy different, at least between my two, and the GLK seems way more responsive which I really like. I test drove the ML and the GLK, and it was really easy for me to see the similarities between the GLK and the C when I got in the ML and had a totally different ride.
I have had major problems with both cars in terms of reliability, but as far as GLKs go that seems to be the case in the 250 bluetecs so you shouldn't have any of that. IF I didn't have so many problems with it, I'd pick the GLK over the C250 in a heartbeat, just based on comfort and how it drives.
