Help for a new GLK350 owner

Hi, finally own my first MB. Purchased a used 2010 GLK 350 4Matic (Canadian model) today. I am trying to figure out which options or packages it has but it's confusing since it seems some of them are different for the models in Canada. Right now I'm mostly concerned with the Stereo operation. My GLK has the following: 7" screen, NAV, Back-up Cam, and 1 cable in the glovebox labelled "MI - USB"; a USB port. There is no AUX input, and no Logic7 or HK anywhere. I've tried plugging in a USB with only mp3 files on it and it's not recognized. Also, it doesn't recognize an iPod. Is using the PCMCIA slot the only way to play back mp3s, or can I purchase an iPod cable and plug that into the port where the USB cable is currently plugged in? Anyone have any insight or experience, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for the help!

I would post the VIN# of your new purchase here, and I am quite sure that a few people on here can either give you a link, or a PDF file of your vehicles build sheet.

Did you look in the glove compartment for the aux input? Page 154 of the manual.

Looked very thoroughly; even popped out a couple of grommets in search of it. Definitely no AUX port in the glovebox. Only port is on the left side where a cable is plugged into a port. I'm assuming this is the Media Interface port, the cable is labelled MI-USB. I did not receive an iPod cable but am looking to purchase one now.

Figured out the Media Interface, music works great off USB now.

Question for the veterans: Called the local dealer (Vancouver, BC) to book my "SERVICE B" appointment, and was told it was $804+tax for this service.

Is this normal on a 2010 GLK350 with 40,000 km? Is it worth while looking around at other shops to have the B SERVICE done for a better price? Thanks!

Hello, I am a new GLK owner as well. My first MB. I've owned BMW's for some years, still have one in the garage, but this is my first Mercedes experience. The postings here are pretty consistent that the dealers do charge $800-900 for the B service. Seems quite excessive to me. I live in a small town in Georgia and we even have two very talented and certified mechanics for most anything European. You probably have some competent independent service options as well. Ask around. The dealer's coffee and danish is good but, not that good.

My B Service is usually about 450 $ Cnd before taxes, ... But it's a 2013 250 Bluetech. Your quote seems high, but maybe it more expensive out West.

Thanks for your input.. I called an independent shop and am taking it in for a quote tomorrow. It's a placed called Flying Tiger Developments in Richmond (near Vancouver). Will report back with what it costs for a B Service through a local garage.

Looking forward to your report as I'm moving back to Vancouver soon with my GLK350.

I went to a local Mercedes specialty garage and asked about having my B Service done. The dealer had quoted me $804, and he said he normally does B Services for around $400. I am taking my GLK to him next week to have it done.

Are there different levels of B Service? The display on my dash says "Service B5 due".

Wondering if B5 is different from standard B, anyone know?

I have heard many great things about Flying Tiger - they did a lot of racing and performance stuff with smart fortwos (I own one of those too). I believe the owner's name is Eddy and he had many great deals and information for smart owners back when I was more involved with Club smart Car.

We have 2 dealerships in town here, and the pricing can vary by hundreds of dollars for a B service. I just take mine to an independent shop, Pug City Euroworks. One dealer quoted me $675 for a B0 service.

I don't believe that there is much of a difference between B0 and B5, just the 5th time for a B service. Here is the service booklet for a 2012 model year to give you an idea:
http://www.mercedes-benz.ca/content/...B12-11Ed.C.pdf

I also have a 2010 GLK! Mine has the Harmon Kardon stereo system, but the only "aux" cables are the proprietary ones that connect to a port in the glovebox. Mine was used, but came with an iPod (not Lightning) cable, and a USB one. I have not tried plugging an iPod USB cable into the USB cable.

Another option your vehicle might have is the Bi-Xenons - you can probably tell by the headlights moving with the steering, and the rear turn signals being LED instead of orange bulbs.

If you are in vancouver try henneken auto (google it). Good guys and they are also doing the proper transmission service which the dealers will not do unless you twist their arm.

If you just bought the glk recently and if you got it from a dealer as a cpo that service B should have been taken care off before delivery to you.

I wasn't able to make it to Flying Tiger last week due to my schedule and his hours. I hadn't heard about Henneken but will check them out as well. I've learned alot of great info from the members on this forum! It's been 2 weeks now since becoming a GLK350 owner and so far so good

Hi there,

The B5 does have a bunch of additional things on top of the regular B service. I forget the specifics but they're things such as new spark plugs, air filter etc. The work and parts are inflated like crazy but B5 for about 800-900 sounds about right.

Well as per the suggestion of shotgun_banjo above, I just dropped my GLK350 off at Henneken Auto for my B Service. Originally planned to go to Flying Tiger but couldn't make it work with my schedule; his hours and location made it too difficult. Spoke with Hans the owner at Henneken and aside from Oil Change and system checks he is going to do Air Filter, Cabin Filter, and Brake Fluid Flush. He didn't mention spark plugs. My first impression was he is very knowledgeable and a trustworthy shop. Will be picking it up tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for your input everyone
