also it would reduce liability if somebody had an accident and blamed MB because they were not watching the road as the rear view or movie was more interesting than driving.
Got to think like a lawyer as car makers will always be sued for stuff that's not their fault imho.

I have only seen the back up camera display while driving by using hacks. I haven't driven a Tesla, but it is typically a safety and liability issue.

Whatever, with a COMAND system in your MB, do a google for Mid-City Engineering and they have a plug-n-play VIM (Vehilce-In-Motion) solution that "should" also give you option of activating the backup camera when/where you want.. check it out...

I'll give you one example -- a couple of weeks ago, I was hauling a bunch of stuff in my GLC and the back was stuffed full enough that I couldn't see out of the rear view mirror. Being able to activate the rear view camera during that 1/2 hour drive would have made it safer and less stressful.
