Rear view camera while driving?

Is it possible to have the rear view camera on while driving forward?

At low speeds, yes. At high speeds it turns off.

it turns off for the same reason you can't watch a video while driving.

That's a good argument, but would it not just increase the visibility? Seems like tesla has no problem turning on a big screen with rear view while normal driving.

also it would reduce liability if somebody had an accident and blamed MB because they were not watching the road as the rear view or movie was more interesting than driving.

Got to think like a lawyer as car makers will always be sued for stuff that's not their fault imho.

Can't you say the same for your rear view mirror?

Just curious why do you want it ON while driving?

I have only seen the back up camera display while driving by using hacks. I haven't driven a Tesla, but it is typically a safety and liability issue.

A gaggle of MB's
Whatever, with a COMAND system in your MB, do a google for Mid-City Engineering and they have a plug-n-play VIM (Vehilce-In-Motion) solution that "should" also give you option of activating the backup camera when/where you want.. check it out...

That was my first thought.

The camera mostly looks down so I would think all you'd see is the pavement whizzing by...

I'll give you one example -- a couple of weeks ago, I was hauling a bunch of stuff in my GLC and the back was stuffed full enough that I couldn't see out of the rear view mirror. Being able to activate the rear view camera during that 1/2 hour drive would have made it safer and less stressful.

(Sorry for bumping an old thread, I googled to see if I could activate the camera, and this came up as the #1 link.)
