Third trip to Home Depot for pavers. Each time, roughly 800 lbs worth. Luckily, just a couple of miles away from the house.

Wish I took a picture of three 5-6 foot Japanese maples with huge rootballs in the trunk. Or the six-foot longer planter that barely fit with the front passenger seat moved all the way up and reclined all the way forward (and cursing the fact that it doesn't fold flat).

You should be accused for abusing it!

It's all good! After a bit of vacuuming, the car has returned to its normal state. It is due for a good detailing, though.

My biggest concern was the weight of the pavers. I did that calculation between GVW and curb weight, and I think I got something like 1,200 pounds, which is why I limited the amount of pavers to 800 lb, distributed fairly uniformly over the entire trunk area with the rear seats flipped down. I was going to increase the air pressure in the rear tires a bit (it appears that MB suggests this I think), but since it was only a few miles back to our house with all smooth roads, I opted against it out of laziness.

This is awesome! It's a utility vehicle and should be treated as such!

Don't get me wrong, I still try to keep my vehicles in good condition (I've spent 10 hours detailing the GLK, clay bar to every surface, etc), but I'm not afraid to throw some landscaping materials in the back as you've done

Thank you! I totally agree. I got a lot of flack from my cousin for "ruining" my Benz. It's an SUV. I bought it in part for the utility. If I didn't need the utility, I could've gotten a C class!

A big +1! I've hauled many thousands of pounds in a utility trailer and filled the back up an occasion too. The diesel towes over 3000 lb like it's not even there. Out here in the countryside we have to haul our own trash to the transfer station (dump) and people love pointing at me when I'm using the GLK. If I wanted a garage queen I'd have a SLK.
That being said, I've always have the cleanest vehicle in the dump.

That is great!! Although I have the gas version, with 800 pounds of pavers in the back, I couldn't tell the difference, but for the jingle jangle in the back.

That's actually my only regret - we should have had the factory trailer hitch fitted. I honestly didn't even realize it would be able to tow that much, so hadn't even considered it... but I suppose it does have 370 ft lbs of torque.

Cpsseal: question... Were you using the factory installed hitch (1 1/4 inch)!of an aftermarket? Any special gadgets (electronic braking system "plug and play" etc?)

This was all in the vehicle itself -- not the trailer!

2013 Infiniti G37 Coupe; 2011 GLK 350 w/ Premium 1, Multimedia & Sport Appearance; I LOVE IT!
We bought ours for our boxer.

Even with a seat cover (more to prevent her sliding around) you don't want to see the back seat...
