Cold Weather & Dashboard Alerts MB GLK 250BT
a (start up alert says check Window Washer Fluid.)That alert can be removed by pushing the right steering wheel access bottom...per manual...
The Washer fluid is full visually & the fluid was last filled by the MB Dealer, I use a washer fluid that handles cold weather conditions.
Once the temperature rises above Freezing outside 34 degrees that alert goes away with a Warmed engine compartment...following the next Vehicle Start-up.
Question:has any other MB GLK250BT or similar class encountered this annoying Alert (correctable) during extremely cold weather starts...?
I also have the optional heated windshield washer fluid bottle, and i haven't noticed any issues with that feature.
One can suppose that with the purchase of certain custom packages (AMG) ,another problem is solved . Some vehicles I have observed( not sure of the brand) had Headlight wipers & sprayers to the light path clear...With the great amount of road salt use ,not surprised that an owner would purchase ...one of many options...
Most of us use the fluid so fast in the winter that we have a good idea of how much we have after getting this warning a few times and just ignore it. First time I got this warning, the tank only need a pint to fill it up.
As engineers need to keep adding new crap expect more of theses little nuisances. Just look at how many low tire pressure complaints during winter there are.
I always use -40 washer fluid though.
I do get some check engine lights now and again when it's really cold. ... They go away by themselves.
In my my most recent fill-up ,I added a -30 rated...
A few weeks ago during my High Price Scheduled maintenance I do not know what Mercedes Dealer's uses . Whether the fluids are filled or not ,inside the repair Facility there are those Misc Charges...for a fluid top-off.
The dealer charges a gallon cost for a cup?
It has been icy, salty & I filled my window washer with my -30 F & the warning went away, filled it once more ,no warning...
Using fuzzy logic , I supposed the MB Dealership uses a top notch brand....at 3x times the cost of -30 obtained At my parts store.
In the Parts Shop at a dealer,I wonder....Mystery ...
In the current condition's Salty, dirty roads of splashes ,I check & fill the tank...and check the level more frequently ..I do not wait for any warning...
Winter, I do have to add PowerService as the diesel gels at -30 Celsius. Not supposed to, but it does.

Sound advice concerning diesel fuel jelling ,seems a great possibility...
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
In Alaska we use to add some JP4 to the fuel at-30 and below but those were the old truck diesels. With the new high pressure rail electronic injector system, I don't know what that would do. Doesn't the pressure regulator recycle some of the fuel back to the fuel tank? Once the engine is warmed up, that would keep the fuel tank relatively above the jell point.
The fuel is supposed to be rated to -40 celcius in the winter up here, but most stations don't order the winter diesel early enough so the tanks have too much summer diesel.
The fuel doesn't gel in the tank, (usually), but rather in the line or especially in the fuel filter.
If you ever get a gelled fuel problem, a lot of times a hair dryer on the fuel filter will clear it up in a few hours. If not, ... have to take apart the filter, add PowerService911 and pray!!!
Happy motoring!

His comment concerning my new MB GLK250BT was "do you plug it in at night"?and that he glad his vehicle does not need DEF....As to what year his diesel Ford is ,I have no comment.
I do not know the year pollution devices & DEF exhaust Catalyst were required.
