Rattling or Clanging GLK-250 2015 cold start
Hi everyone. It has not been that cold out, maybe down to freezing during the night then 50 def F during the day. We've noticed that when warming up the diesel engine for a few minutes when cold sitting over night that there is quite a loud clanging rattle sound coming from the left side of the engine for maybe 5 minutes and then it stops. It's basically new with just over 2000 miles on it. It's not really noticeable inside unless you leave a door open.
Curious if anyone else has noticed this?
I attached a recording using an iPAD. The clanging stops around 10 seconds.
Thanks,
Adrien.

SLK 350 2013
For my part, I have never heard a difference like we hear in your sound bite.
It's been minimum -25 to -30 (Celsius) here every morning for the past several weeks. I usually start the car with the door open (don't even get into the car) and immediately brush off the snow so I'm outside of the car.
Maybe someone else can chime in with thoughts.

According to your original post, you stated that you have a GLK250.
Which is a diesel version.
About the noise, maybe it is a characteristic of a direction inject engine ?

2014 GLK 250
every one's perception of rough/loud/rattling is always a little bit different from the next. For what its worth, I have a 2014 250, and on the cold mornings when its been sitting over night, It appears to be a little rough on start up. But once you get er warmed up a bit it goes back to being the same.

Hi. Yes, it's a diesel and the clanging may be a problem. We stopped by the dealer today to talk to the service manager. We're going to need to leave the car overnight so they can have a listen. I'll keep you posted.

Hi. An update:
Here is what was determined by the service department;
The GLK diesel normally makes this clanging noise on warmup. Ours makes it within the first 10 minutes from a cold startup when the temp is around freezing overnight. The clanging usually stops after a couple minutes or so. The noise appears to radiate from the left where the dual turbo chargers are. The mechanic thought the noise was odd but after they listened to other new 2015 GLK diesels on their lot, they found it was normal.
