Side window sunshades
Having tried various windshield sunshades on different cars I'm comfortable saying that the Heatshield brand is the best. I bought their windshield sunshade for the GLK not long after I bought the car (already had them for other cars). However, when I park at work or other places there's a long period of time that the sun comes in the front side window doing its UV damage. The back side windows have a pretty good dark tint from the factory so I'm not so worried about them.
Anyway, last year I started bugging Heatshield about producing sunshades for the side windows. I don't know if others had asked or even if they planned to do it on their own but they finally advised me they were available. I purchased a pair for the LH and RH front side windows. They did not fit correctly (a good size gap at the front). I contacted Heatshield and they asked me to send some photos so they could make mods. I did and then they sent replacement sunshades which fit just right. Very pleased with them.

I used to have really dark tint and then switched to chrome tint which helped so much with the heat, i didn't even realize it was almost 50C outside LOL. But eventually got fed up with hardly being able to look outside the dark windows and also getting pulled over by the cops.

I tinted my windshield and it has helped keep my car cooler. I use a sunshade when I remember but it's not always practical. The tint works well but with polarized sunglasses there is a small halo effect.
The big issue though with windshield tint is if you use it it may be illegal in your state or province if it covers the entire window.
The solution I found was from my tint shop who installed a tint that appears fully transparent but is not. If you ever get stopped by the police it's recommended that you open your front windows fully to make it appear the windshield is tint free.
