Lift gate/tailgate won't open

Lift gate/tailgate won't open
Wondering if anyone else has this problem. When I try to open the lift gate, I get some nasty clunky noises coming from the upper left of the lift gate, and then nothing.
Have an appointment with the dealer a week from this Tuesday, but just curious if anyone else has had this problem. 2014 GLK350,

I wonder why you have an appointment with the dealer a week from Tuesday? If I could not open my rear hatch, I would be down at the dealer when he opened and get him to fix it or give me a loner until he does. Maybe my dealer has a better relationship with his customers than the ones in Arizona. There are lots of MB, Audi, BMW, Lexus and Infinity dealers in this area, so maybe that is the reason.
Do you have a specific service manager assigned to you? I can understand regular maintenance being scheduled for a week in advance, but for stuff like this, they should be more attentive. Even when a headlight went out, I stopped in and they had it replaced in 15 minutes.
I love my GLK and it has given me 85000 miles of great service, but there are too many equivalents out there to tolerate a lousy dealer. The dealer is one major reason I have owned 6 Mercedes.

I would pull the tailgate all the way to the top...you will hear all kinds weird noise as the hydraulics are move around. When it's up there, press close button...see if that corrects it......worst case scenario..MB will fix it.

So what if it does not close again or will not latch? It seems more prudent to let the service center open/close it so he is not stuck in his driveway with a wide open hatch.

Whatever you want to do....I have had my tailgate stop halfway up many times for whatever reason and just pulled it up. I've also pushed in manually down.
It's not going to just get stuck...you can pull it down.
If you don't feel comfortable doing that , you'll just have to wait......please post what the MB shop does...don't just have them fix it and not know what they did...help others here with what the fix is.

Actually please don’t push it in. I did in fact do this and it got stuck. Tailgate will not open by tailgate button, door button or keypad. I hear the same noises and nothing...
