Terrible gas mileage on 2010 glk 350
I've been getting around 11.7- 13 MPG ( 18- 20L/ 100k) on my glk. I'm just wondering if there's something mechanically wrong or is that normal for the glk? Oh i only drive in the city.

That sounds low. We get about 15-16 around town, in traffic. Nothing to be proud of, but still better than 11.7-13. How many miles are on your car, and is all maintenance up to date?

Possible causes; Dirty Air Cleaner, Worn spark plugs, Worn injectors ( hard to start when the engine is hot?), Low Octane fuel, Dragging brake, Lead foot, Hilly area with lots of stop lights, Short trips of less than a couple of miles. Not driving at higher rates of speed for 30 or 40 miles regularly.
My 2010 is like Lyonkster's with 16-18 mpg on the 7 mile daily trip to work and 22-23 on the highway.

Today it was cold. I noted that half of my 7 mile trip to work, the engine was below 160 °F. This means the system has to run rich which also eats the milage. Only 14.7 for the first half of the trip.

I take our GLK in for all of the MB scheduled maintenance intervals. Sounds like you should do the same. Something is wrong.
I think adhering to the maintenance schedules is a good thing - better reliability and performance, including MPG.

I'm in Cali too with its special blends of gas to reduce pollution. It gets poorer mileage because of the ethanol added. Having said that, my '10 GLK-4Matic seems to average 16 to 17 around town and 22 to 23 on the freeway which is most of my driving. My aggregate mileage for the last 40K miles is 21.1
I find that driving gently and using the cruise control when possible makes a big difference while tamping down the fun of course.
