Hello Friends, I need some help on the following:
I recently bought a 2014 MB GLK350 and had broken steering rack, I went ahead and replace it with a used one. It works fine but once it reaches speed the steering gets hard and difficult to control.
The GLK did had a airbag error because of the accident but not sure if it trigger some default mode; now the dealer does not want to re-program the used rack because its hard coded.
Can someone advise if a used electric steering rack can be reprogramed and why when it goes speed it get hard to control steering?

Sounds more like a problem with the front wheel geometry. If the accident caused a broken rack, it probably bent some links and sheet metal which could cause a caster, (supports high speed stability) or camber (vehicle handling) problem. These are not easily adjustable on the GLK and rely on the sub-frame and body to be correct, unlike pre 90's cars. Have a good shop check the alignment of this vehicle. Even Toe setting could be affecting the high speed handling.
