For the ground I connected it to the bolt just in front of the fuse box under the hood. Use a ring connector to slip it easily onto the bolt.
As for the power, I used a fuse tap and plugged it into fuse slot 23. Make sure you use a full sized ATO tap.
See the below photos for the location of the ground.

i bought these tap before reading your post Do you think they would work? since it says that they are MINI.

Do you know how to install the back up Camera for my 2012 GLK? I have the option in the menu of Camera on R.. when I activate it.. the screen switched to back up with the lines but no image.. cause I don't have the camera..
let me know your take..

Installing my star
i bought some quick splicers and want to connect them to the headlights to install my star. first off is this a good idea and second i can't get the wiring unplugged from the headlights, can i still connect it as long as the cars off without unplugging?

Corrected..At first I thought it looked tacky but after a while I grew to like the led star.The soft white one looks more OEM though.
