How many owners bought the extended warranty?
Just curious how many of you went for the factory extended warranty.
I declined when I bought the car. After 4 years of ownership, I trotted back to my dealer and purchased 3 more years of factory warranty on the last day of my original warranty. My wife and I talked it over first and agreed that we are really happy with our GLK350, so why not. For us, it is peace of mind.

if you plan to keep your car beyond the initial coverage 4/50 it could be a wise investment when a simple a/c repair can be 2-3K or a transmission 4-5k.
I've purchased them on 4 cars and in one case it saved me over 5K on a motor problem.

The price was non-negotiable at my dealer. Still OK with me, as I figure one serious problem with the engine or transmission could easily exceed the premium cost.
And for what it's worth, the 3-year factory warranty extension is exactly like the original warranty, except for paint and upholstery.

I paid $2300.00 for the 3-year factory warranty extension. That includes a 15% surcharge, which apparently is a "penalty" for not coughing up the money on the day of the new car purchase.

Still on fence whether to save these 15% and buy now 2 years CPO Extended Warranty for my CPO 2016 GLE300d purchased less than 30 days ago or wait for later when 1 year CPO warranty ends... Today's price is $2370.

Coverage is similar to your new vehicle warranty for two additional years, with powertrain coverage available for a third additional year
I am a DIYer, but I even bought 4 prepaid services which cost an arm and a leg. Figure I better have them do services so no arguments about warranty, if needed.
I will probably sell the car before the warranty is up.
Past experience - Bought ext warranty for E320. Did need it for a few things, but probably main benefit was peace of mind. Did not buy it for diesel smartcar and that cost me $$. Luckily some of the cost was covered by the emission warranty (engine module)

We bought it ... more for peace of mind.... So far haven't even used the regular warranty, This is the most trouble free vehicle I've ever owned. Mind you we've only had it almost 3 years and 50,000 km. Which is a big improvement over my F150 which in 8 months had a transfer case, wheel bearings and most of the electrical replaced it was even worse than my Old Triumph TR6.I'm sure one day something will go wrong but so far still loving the GLK250.

Extended Warranty
I had a 2007 E350 that I bought from a private party when I lived in Arizona 3 years ago. (No sales tax on private sales in Az.) My Credit Union offered a 5 yr/ up to 100k for just over $2k. When I sold the car less than a year later. The person who bought it told me that the warranty was the major reason why they bought the car. I didn't purchase the extended warranty on my GLK250. As I planned to not have the car that long. I traded the GLK for a E350 CPO and I found a good deal for the Warranty Extension searching this forum. IMO if you keep the car, its peace of mind. If you sell the car its a good selling tool.
