GLK350 2010 Passenger Side Power Window

Newbie Here,
Anyway tried to search for past thread specific to GLK350 2010 problem, did not find anything..
My front passenger side window won't roll back up.
Removed my door trim, found out cable loose but intact, but it look like the only way to access the inside assembly is to drill the rivet on the alum panel, Anybody had done this before ? Relooping the cable?any other way to access inside? I guess Im trying to find the esier way, Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

It is not uncommon for auto makers to rivet stuff to the door panels and even the door panels themselves due to time and cost.Since the eighties, GM has been riveting the window motors to the door panels. Make sure you only drill out the rivets that hold the panel, when you disassemble.

My guess is that it's not just a matter of relooping the cable, but rather that something broke. I haven't done this repair on the GLK, but I have seen this type of failure on my other cars, which required replacement of the whole regulator assembly.

Looking at the GLK parts diagram, that whole aluminum panel is part of the regulator assembly, so I'd be prepared to replace the whole unit (which is indeed riveted to the door). http://www.mbpartsworld.com/showAsse...driveLine=9983

Another option is to buy a used one.

I had the mechanism unwind on my 97 E320 a few years back. I drilled out the rivets, rewound the assembly, and bolted it back in. It worked for about a week and then unwound itself again. I ended up buying a new part and bolting it in.
