2012 GLK Bluetooth Streaming Audio
I've searched a ton, found some posts regarding activating fields in the engineering menu, some vague posts about MB upgrading software but nothing definitive other than people using aftermarket gadgets plugged into the mini jack aux in.
I tried the engineering menu changes, it didnt seem to work. I read elsewhere the truck needs to be powered off for 30 seconds for the can bus to reset after making a menu change, i havent tried it that way. Id like to steer away from using aux in wire. I tried dongle plugged into 30 pin connector and the Command said "no device found" then powered off the dongle. That one was Coolstream by CarPro, i have another one coming that i will test out. I am afraid that will interfere with normal phone operation though.
has anyone been able to get bluetooth audio streaming to work from a newer iphone in their 2012 GLK?
When i asked MB dealer if they could upgrade command software to allow bluetooth audio capability they said this is not possible.
The truck has media package and 30 pin interface wire in the center console armrest.
The truck was built before 5/2012 so i think it is NTG4?

Bluetooth audio isnt even an option in COMAND, its either Media Interface, Aux, or the other standard inputs.
the truck has multi media package if that means anything. it was built in 4/2012, and i think the change to audio system happened mid year in 2012. for example, the truck has no USB port, no 12 volt power in the glove box or center console, just the MMI plug in center console.
I just added 12 volt power into the center arm rest to give myself some options to sort this out.
The MMI cable is genuine MB it is the 30 pin + Aux.

This is NTG4 right?
I just installed 12 volt power in the center arm rest in hopes i can power a bluetooth dongle to stick into the 3.5mm aux jack
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I have been searching this topic for 4 days, my eyes were bleeding. I found a few "Hell No's", a lot of dead ends, and some other work arounds that weren't very clean. tune2air mentioned earlier lead me to a wide range of bluetooth receivers, this was the answer but has changed names sort of.
It was just a matter of finding the right gadget to plug into the truck. I have prob tried a dozen wired, and wireless 'solutions' that all would result in "no device connected" or "device incompatible".
I even tried plugging in a period correct click wheel ipod and an ipod touch. That was a mess as apple must have changed the OS enough to where the truck doesn't communicate with the ipod correctly, the song names come up in their raw file structure format, and playlists were impossible to find using the displayed raw file structure on the screen. Mercedes dealer said I was SOL, and I read where Mercedes North America has told customers any truck built before 2013 will only worth with iOS 5 or earlier. Things were looking bleak short of spending $1500 to replace the entire audio system.
What did work: (as mentioned ealier)
Bovee WMA3000A or 3000A+ (they are the same) Wireless Bluetooth Music Interface Adapter for in car iPod Integration (AMI/MDI connector) $89
This device made short work of this challenge. Plugged it in, the iphone 6 pairs with the truck for cell phone calls, and it pairs with the BoVee MMI wire for seamless Bluetooth music integration. The steering wheel controls work, the song information is displayed on the COMAND screen, just as it should.

happy streaming, special thanks to postmark.
