New GLK 350 owner - cover on rear bumper???

We just bought this car and it's missing the camera cover - or something else on the lower RH side of the rear bumper - there's a little square hole. What's missing - is it just a clear camera cover - or is something else supposed to be there?

What is this part called if we wanted to find/buy one? I'm picking the car up tomorrow and can take a pic. Maybe the camera is gone - or maybe it doesn't even have one? :-(

Otherwise we're thrilled - it only has 17K miles on it!

It is the cover for the tow bar.

This square cover thing- tow bar? Probably not...

one most passenger cars you have front and rear towing points for when your car breaks or when you get stuck. You usually thread in a hook and thats where the tow truck driver would rig.

Thanks for the replies - I was thinking "cover for the tow bar" was meaning like trailer hitch or something. Interesting - I never would have thought it was a towing hookup since it wasn't centered.

Anyway, the good part is it's just a cover and replaceable - the bad part is it's color matched to the car (dark grey/silver) which probably means getting one and having it painted if they probably don't sell them in colors.

Yup, you can see it exposed on ricer or track cars:

usually metal or a fabric strap.

you can buy the cover at the dealer for cheap but it will NOT come painted, I check for my car and dealer said they do not come painted.

i just went through this as well, why do these things go missing?

as Az said, your local dealer may have these in stock, mine did. they do not come painted. "rear tow hook cover" when you ask for it.

i picked it up at dealer, dropped it off at a local paint shop and they painted / clear coated it for $60 in a few days.

you could also rattle can it with matched spray available online and spray it with clear for a little less money, little more time and effort.

I found one on Ebay for $26 and they will paint it your color for an extra $10 - seems like the way to go. :-)

I'm waiting for them to double check I'm ordering the right part since the pic doesn't look quite right to me - but once they confirm I'll buy one.

I sent them the VIN and photos just to be sure as it's custom and probably not returnable if ordered wrong. You have to go to another ad of their to buy the paint job for $10.

I just heard back and it's apparently NOT the right part. Glad I checked first before ordering!

I believe the right part # is - 20488532239999

2012 - the numbers you posted are the same, minus a few 9999s at the end. :-)

Take the 9s off and search Ebay and there's one for $11. (clone)

My car was missing this also. It comes painted with primer only. I would just buy it at the dealer. It only costs a few bucks and if doesn't fit exactly the dealer will make it good. How much trouble do you really want for less than $15 anyway? It pops right in and out so it's easy to play with paint and get it right - or have a shop shoot it for another few bucks. Do you have the tow eye that screws in there? It looks like a big plated eye bolt.
It's used to ****** you out of a ditch safely or tie you down on a tow bed.
