Yes, you are right we used epoxy that was supposed to withstand gasoline... used a good amount, cleaned and sanded the surface but eventually with internal pressure the leak came back. So just bought the top ring separately and the gasket to replace...

I've googled this situation and get it coming up for other Mercedes but not the GLK.
When I fill to a full tank on my wife's 2011 GLK 350 2WD, I get a gas smell at the rear of the car until the fuel level drops.
Other cars seem to have rubber seal on top of the tank that fail that are accessible from under the rear seat.
Is the tank accessible on the GLK in the same way?
Just trying to get an idea of what I'm in for before I attack it & whether to go from the top or underneath.

Our 2011 MB GLK 350 had same fuel smell, traced it to micro cracks in the plastic fuel filter housing, these can be seen as a medium brown line along the inner edge of the top white plastic part.
