2011 GLK 350 - Retorfit Blind Spot detection?
My mother has a 2011 GLK 350 - she owns it free and clear. She now really wants blind spot detection on it. Is it possible to add it to the car via an actual OEM retrofit or aftermarket retrofit?
She will either give it to me or sell it to get another car with all the safety bells and whistles. However, instead of putting out that expense I thought by retrofitting it, I could get it done for around $1000? Any suggestions

I have blind spot detection and find it only marginally useful. It is not even close to being a substitute for turning my head and actually looking. I have also added blind spot mirrors that I find to be more useful and accurate than the blind spot system.
The blind spot system does not work at speeds below 15 mph so it is not helpful in heavy slow speed traffic. It also gives loud false alarms when there are objects near you in a turn. I can't count the number of times I have wanted to just turn it off. At best it is a good supplement to mirrors and turning to look. Even if it can be retrofitted I do not think it worth the cost - save your money and get some good mirrors.

maybe $1000 if you do it yourself for a OEM type setup. i have no clue if aftermarket exists for our car.
The whole interior needs to be stripped, new mirrors, bumper removal, radar modules, wiring, etc...

It will be super expansive to do the OEM retrofit. The oem radar sensor is like $899 each, the wire harness in the back bumper is $250, that is not even include the mountain hardwares and new mirror and etc. i know there is a aftermarket blind spt retrofit for glk for way less.
