Happened to me as well, but only in really frigid temps when the car has sat overnight. Start it up and let it warm up at high idle (1500rpms) for a few minutes, then try Neutral first.

happened to me once too. Freaked me out. It was also very cold so I restarted the car and it worked again.

SOLUTION TO Problem with not shifting into gear
I followed instruction from a Link on Youtube to re-program the Mercedes Computer to correct the problem. STEP BY STEP-It worked but hopefully, the problem will not reoccur.

I encountered this same problem today in the cold morning, the transmission seems dead, no response to any shift. I figured that the transmission oil pressure is ok, no leaks; the electricity voltage is fine too because the engine started fine. It looks like a sensor cut off the electricity to transmission. I happened remove the trunk bottom cover in the morning, that cover is to cover the ad-blue refill. so I put the cover back and I can shift the transmission right after.
