GLK250 Blower Motor

Hi all

i have a question about the A/C blower motor. I have a 2013 GLK250. The blower stopped working. Mid winter may I add. I spent a few hour replacing the blower in the cold and it still didn’t work. From online research it seems like the next step is to replace blower fan module. Before I do it I’m not sure I connected things correctly. It seems like there is a plug with no wire to it. Does this take a wire. The wire in the pic is coming from the fan. I can’t find any wire anywhere that needs to be plugged in here. I couldn’t find any pictures online of this set up. If it takes nothing then I’ll order the module.

I found this picture online. Would anyone know where this wire is coming from. I'm running out of ideas and i would rather avoid ripping the whole dash apart.

The blower motor (2128200708) is known as A32m1. The regulator (2128702110) is known as A32n1.

There are three wires (white, brown, blue\red) from the cable harness (2044401251) that goes into A32n1; this supplies power into the module. The two wires (brown, red) output into the A32m1 motor to power it. You have the motor connected, but no power will reach it. Connect the wire harness (2044401251) from the fuse box and check your fuses, it is most likely jammed above the blower housing.

Also it should not take you an hour, this is a 10 minutes job for professionals and 20 minutes max to remove the motor.

Amazing! Thank you. I pulled the motor out and there it was. It was wedged and I couldn’t see it. The reason it too so long the first time is because it was cold and couldn’t feel my fingers. It was dark and I was only working with my cellphone light. This second time around I took it out in 5 mins and clipped it back on in 2 mins. Everything is buttoned up and works. Glad I didn’t buy the module. Thanks a lot for your help.

excellent!

You should replace the cabin air filter while you are doing this.

i did replace it. for some reason the metal clips weren't there for the filter. I do hear a bit of wheezing now from that area. I wonder if it has to do something with the filter not being tight there. I'll wait until its a bit warmer and try it again.

Thanks a bunch for your help again.

Walkthrough, wing it... or manual?

Ramo80,

did you find a walkthrough online, follow a manual, or wing it when replacing the blower motor? Just curious. I’m in the same boat (obviously, since I am here).

Thanks.

**edit** After researching google a bit more, I’m convinced all that is needed to change this blower motor out is a screw driver of sorts and some patience. (No offense intended to ramo80 of course... props to you for doing all the legwork on the part numbers etc!! You rock!) If I think of it, I will take pictures. Thanks again!

No Power

In a previous post you stated that there was no power between the red/blue and brown (may be different in other year models, these were the colors for my 1999 CLK320) wire leads at the connector tor the fan housing.

I am assuming you had selected a position on the AC control panel in which the fan would be commanded “ON”. If not do so and check again. You should be able to see 12-14VDC between these two wires with the key in ACCY or ON and fan commanded on.

If that is good, check for an open (cut/disconnected) in the white wire. This wire is the fan speed command from the AC control panel. No speed command, no fan operation.

I accidentally severed this wire while installing a microphone for the aftermarket Bluetooth capable radio that I replaced for the OEM, not upgradeable, Blaupunkt radio.

If still no 12-14VDC between the red/ blue and brown, check for open in either or both wires.

Once you confirm power, you can confirm fan speed input by connecting the plug to the fan housing and try, through the AC control to command the fan to run. Fan housing can be on the floor under the dash.

If it runs out and not in, then check for possible impingement of the fan by the dash housing.
