TPMS replacement

My daughter is replacing tires soon. She has a 2015 GLK. I'm thinking of replacing the sensors. I have the MB part number and they can be found at about $50 each online. Can anyone offer any advice or recommendations regarding?

Thanks!

I bought an aftermarket set back in 2017 for about $60 a set for my 19" wheels. You just gotta match the specs. Still works fine now.

Do you recall any issues of reprogramming or relearning? I'm apprehensive of going against OEM.

Unless your current TPMS sensors are faulty, why replace them? I got new tires put on this past January, the guys just rebuild them as part of the normal mounting of new tires. If the battery in a sensor dies and needs to be replaced, that's a different issue.

The tire shop should know how to remove and reinstall TPMS sensors as part of a new tire mounting. You don't need new ones unless the current ones are faulty.

I'm told you can't replace the batteries. The sensors have to be replaced when the batteries fail. I was just trying to be ahead of the failure. Maybe I'm guilty of overthinking this, wouldn't be the first time either. I do appreciate the input.

Don’t buy the factory tires, Michelin , Pirelli and others make a much , much better tire.

I'm assuming you're referring to the Dunlop Run Flats. If so that's my plan. I'm going with the Michelin Premier LTX. Agree?

I'd only start worrying when the car is 10 yrs old. Youre a 2015 so dont bother. I'm in a 2010 and still on original tpms sensors.

I did have to replace one sensor though, but that was because of salt corrosion and the shop broke it.

The Michelin premier are maybe the best, I have them, but now you will need a spare, a jack and air pump.

Unfortunately true. Run flats just aren't my choice.

Add another vote for Michelin Premier LTX. It feels like a completely different car, actually rides like a Mercedes is supposed to.
