Sell or keep our 2012 GLK 350?
We have a 2012 GLK 350 which we bought in December 2011.
It has low mileage, only about 28,000 miles now.
A few years ago we paid for an extended warranty and maintenance package but it will expire soon.
Do you think it's time to sell this and get a new car?
We really do not want to spend extra money, as times are tough.
But we also do not want to get caught with big expenses in the coming years.
We might sell this in another 2 or 3 years but don't want to right now.
Your advice appreciated.
However, ours is a RWD model, understand that the transfer case can be problematic on the AWD versions.

As Travelness mentioned, you never know what you'll encounter with another vehicle. Many years ago my wife bought a new Acura and, based on reputation, we were expecting terrific reliability. The car needed a new CV joint after 500 mi and killed a battery and/or alternator every couple of years. On the other hand, her 2015 GLK has been completely trouble-free.

We've been maintaining it with the MB dealership. Any advice on what to look for regarding an independent shop?

The car has been "OK" so far, but I am not 100% sure. They did say the engine mounts broke and that had to be fixed. From the repair invoice: "ALL MOTOR MOUNT COLLAPSED." Then they were reinstalled and checked OK.
This motor mounts thing was a few months ago, JUNE 2019.
The only other weird thing we noticed is that there is sometimes a heavy sounding "BUMP" sound from somewhere, when we reverse the car about 20 feet. But the technicians say they can't find anything wrong with the car regarding that.
This is like me knowing nothing about computers and asking for advice LOL. I can give computer advice but not car advice.
Using a rough trade in estimate for the GLK of around $15k, there are many, mostly Japanese, cars that are reliable and can be had for little or no money in trade.
