Went to start my vehicle (2012 GLK 350 4MATIC) today and it started but every thing on my dash is lit and shows as a malfunction including windshield washing fluid/seats/air bag, etc. Also, it seemed the transmission or something was running sounded like a large commercial fan running. I turned the vehicle off and waited and tried again. Same result. The vehicle was running fine last night when I was running errands. My vehicle normally parked in the garage overnight. It wasn't overly cold last night either. Never experienced this before and hope its nothing major. Looking for troubleshooting and doing before towing mechanic.

i'm just last night in a similar boat with my 2010 GLK350! the fan started going at full speed even though the car was off. went for a drive and the rear turn signals stopped working. turned the car off and the rear lights wouldn't turn off. disconnected the battery overnight so it wouldn't be dead when i tried to drive to the repair shop this morning. started fine this morning. goes into drive ok. doesn't move!

Something like this happened on co-worker's BMW....it was due to bad seal of the trunk (due to accident repair) which allowed water into the trunk, where battery is.

Were either of your cars in the accidents or floods or have mice problems?

i have a 2 month old after market battery. it has seemed to be working flawlessly so far. it has been extremely wet here the last few days!

we probably won't be able to go without a car while it dries out! lol! its the middle of winter and i don't expect it to stop raining for another few months!

I keep my vehicle in the garage but it wasn't moving for a few months because I was out of town. Was working fine when I returned until yesterday morning.

Found a similar situation in more detail of what I'm experiencing, except I haven't left the vehicle on long. I get a weird smell and smells as if something is burning under the vehicle, which is concerning. I'm opting to take to mechanic and let them do a full service. Called the dealer and he thinks it may be the battery. Bought a BLUE DRIVER and it read the issues but didn't locate exactly where the problem is. Tried to erase the codes and because I updated the blue driver, it no longer works! So it's a waiting game now. I just dont want to tow if I don't have to.

other similar situation:
It happens in the morning. When I start the car, the engine would start but all warning lights come out ( Cruise C Inoperative,Run Flat Inoperative,ABS Inoperative,SRS Malfunction,DSR Inoperative).Cannot shift gears. Engine works, but a bit louder than usual and as if a fan is turning on. Radio, mirrors and all electronics is not working. After a Few attempts, when the car heats a bit, I am able to shift into gear and it starts to work fine and only the check engine light is on while I am driving . The next morning same thing happens. Took to a mechanic, he cleared the codes, this morning the problem showed up again. It is an electrical problem or a sensor, but have someone had a similar thing and what can be done about it?

Put a battery charger on it first, be sure it has an AGM program or you won’t fully charge. I think a dealer will cost too much.

Had to have vehicle towed to Dealer. It's the F32 pre fuse box. $800+tax. Is that a good price or should I shop around. It's an hour job.

Check the dealer website for a coupon. The ones around here always have some kind of a promotion going.

UPDATE!!!

So today I was suppose to have my vehicle back from the dealership but all the phone, computers were down. I was trying to arrange pickup and the service guy I was dealing with told me my part (F32 pre fuse box) just arrived and that my vehicle would be done until tomorrow afternoon if that! Not having a vehicle isnt an option. So after some thought, I called the service guy back and told him if he doesn't have a loaner for me, I'll drive the vehicle home using the bypass button. He said isnt the vehicle inoperatatable?? But the tow guy showed me how to bypass to be able to drive. WELL, when I received the keys to my vehicle it was back to NORMAL, back to the day before it couldn't drive. I was in SHOCK!!! I'm suppose to go back to the dealer and get the box installed but is this just a MONEY GRAB??? Did my vehicle just need their computers to reset everything?? The service guy swore to me I need to have the fuse replaced. Infact, the service guy doubted that i would return. I speculate its because nothing is wrong. I dont know what to do because I don't want this to keep happening. HELP!!!

You got lucky two ways. It runs and 800$ for a 300$ part and one hour labor is wrong.
Now you can shop for a better price if needed.

exact same for me! i was three weeks without a car... the garage was just too busy. the battery went dry from running the fan forever at the mechanics. they charged it up and replaced some bulbs but couldn't find anything else wrong with it. we've got it back now and its perceptibly running better!!

$380CDN for dickin around..

can you tell me about this "bypass button"? sounds handy!

Too bad you guys are in a location with few MB dealers. We have many to chose from within a 30 mile radius. This keeps them competitive, although I have only used the one for the past 20 years and he always has a loaner, even if the dealer says they don't. Part of loyalty I guess.
If you smelt burning, I would have someone look at the fuse box. Sooner or later it will melt.
