Some of them do not have emissions problems.

I think in general, cars do very well being driven on highways.

The GLK250 uses the same engine as the commercial diesel sprinter vans(insane mileage). I suspect they have access to much better mechanics who know how to deal with emission issues quickly.

Vans are V6, GLK is 4 cyl.

I think they started using the 4cylinder om 651 on sprinters after 2013.

Sprinter forum would be a great place to check for long term engine/emission issues

Really...I only see gas 4 cyl that became available. Diesel is 3.0. I always thought in US all sprinters are V6 diesels and I did wonder how there are so many vans yet GL/ML owners hate the unsiability of diesesl. Maybe it's simpler design on the van and easier to fix? Or business owners don't really know as often serving of fleets is outsourced.

The newer Sprinters did use the "new" OM651 engine that our GLK250s have, but they were tuned down a bit.

Diesels love the open road and have the best longevity when run for miles and miles on end, steady RPMs and good oil pressure (of course all the while being serviced with the proper lubes and parts at specified intervals). They require maintenance but can generally last at least 200,000 miles before the engine becomes any kind of limiting factor; it's all of the other stuff around the engine that can (and usually does) go bad early.

I have no doubt my Bluetec will see a healthy 200k mile mark, only 80k to go.

Pretty sure that some Sprinters came in 5-cylinder variants too.

Indeed, they were the OM612 and OM647, both 5-cyl 2.7L diesels.
