Wet floor drivers side with pics
I need some help. I woke up the other day and noticed my driver side carpet was wet...we had some heavy rain. I pulled off the panel under the driver side and pulled back the carpet to find where the water was coming from. I found water underneath this (see picture). The foam insulation underneath was soaked...the foam above is bone dry. Any idea where water could be coming from?
The bottom of the gasket that meets the firewall seems to be where water is coming in.
Any help is appreciated.
Any clues?
Very frustrating. Also checked sunroof drains and they are also clear.
Its supposed to rain tomorrow...with carpet out and a nice big towel where the leak seems to be...maybe I can pinpoint where it’s coming from.
Thanks for reply!

Well now I’m completely confused. We had a torrential downpour last night and I was fully expecting the towel I put down by the gas pedal to be soaked. Dry as a bone...and so was the gasket area that was wet previously.
So I am stumped.

I never thought to check washer fluid. You think a washer hose might be leaking? The strange part is the fluid seemed to be oily.
The hunt continues.
The only thing that’s oily is usually antifreeze, did anyone fill the tank recently.
I’ll keep looking and see if a hose from something is dripping onto that area and causing the leak into the cabin.
Very frustrating.

If it’s water, the sources are external leak from rain, or HVAC condensate.
Of it’s not water, the sampling procedure points you to the next step.
The two tests are intended to look for either coolant leak or condensate leak from the HVAC unit. If no leaking after these two tests, the water is (presumably) not coming from the HVAC system, but rather somewhere else. For example cowl drain, sunroof drain, door seals, windshield seals, etc.
