Rain-X washer fluid

I've been told that Rain-X washer fluid ruins the fluid level sensor. Is this true? Is the damage permanent?

It didn’t affect out level sensor, but it definitely gummed up the spray nozzles. It was not permanent, but hard to clean up.
Stick with the Summer Fit or winter Fit from the dealer. The cheap blue stuff doesn't clog, but I read somewhere that it can affect the finish.

Definitely a known issue for Audi/VW sensors. I used it for a couple of seasons in GLK - no issues with the sensor yet.

I use Rain-X window treatment. I put it on all the windows not just the windshield. Water beads off in the summer and ice is much, much easier to scrape off in the winter. It lasts a couple of months. I don't bother paying a premium for the windshield washer as it it unnecessary when the windows have been treated.

Try an ounce of alcohol, not to much or it will dry before your wiper wipes a few times.

just read this and ordered some RainX Original window treatment. Never heard of it. Thanks. I do read that you can apply ceramic coat to windows. That might do the same.

I have used it forever and have never had a problem in any car I have owned... You are talking about the orange bottle, right?

My reply refers to the 1 gallon bottle of orange washer fluid not the window treatment.

Interesting. I've used it in lots of other cars and never had that problem. I should be running low soon; it's salt water season. I guess I'll give it a try...

Come to think of it, I have to try to fill a chip this spring so maybe I'll hold off until after I do that.

Maybe it’s our well water. When summer rolls around it gets refilled with tap water + ⅓ bottle of summer fit.
Not a big problem.
