Post GLK 350 20" Wheel tire options

I just wanted to know what tires I can fit on my 2010 GLK 350 4Matic with 20" wheels. I might sell it so i don't want to put brand new tires on it but I don't want Taiwan tires either. I currently have 235/45/20(which can't be found used near me and they have **** tread life). I found out I can fit 245/45/20s but i'm not having much luck finding used ones on those sizes either. If you have a GLK and have a different size installed without suspension changes please let me know.

I just put 255/45/20 on mine.
P.S. Tire size has little or nothing to do with tread life.

As a footnote, 255/45/20 tires have the corrected the speedometer error on my GLK. 100 kph on the dash is now 100 kph by GPS. Formerly 100 dash was 96 GPS.

Hello! Sorry to bring this thread back from so long, but do you happen to have some photos of the 255/45/20 tires on your GLK?

How is the ride/handling? Acceleration?

Did MPG suffer at all?

Any rubbing at all?

Thank you in advance for your insights and hopefully some photos!

Tires are important no matter if you're keeping the car or selling it. Your life rides on them at 75 mph. You can buy a set of major brand quality tires for $250 - $300 each. Any prospective buyer will notice the tires and judge the entire car accordingly.

Sorry, I just had a look and I have no pictures with those tires. Still running snows at the moment. No change in MPG. No rubbing. Ride and handling is much improved with Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus. Acceleration unchanged. The gearing is not affected because the overall diameter/circumference has changed very little from stock.

See my post on the other thread to see fit and photos info.

Ride improved considerably, but that was from the stock 20" "sport wheels" and tires. I doubt I would have noticed a difference going from 225 to 255mm wide tires.

The difference in handling depends a lot more on your tire choice than the size - wider is probably a little better, assuming you have the right width rims. If you slap wider tires on narrower rims, the handling will be degraded (so yes, to go 255mm, I'd recommend wider rims).

If you have a very expensive accelerometer you might be able to detect some difference in acceleration - but maybe not. Of course, after spending lots of money on wider tires, lots of folks are gonna FEEL the difference... ;-)
