Something sort of like that has been around for a long time. My ‘03 E320 was built to SA specs. It would run on gasoline or up to 90% ethanol. In the engineering menu there was a “yes” “no” setting for ethanol fuel. According to a MB factory trained friend, nothing was different in the car except the fuel system o-rings and the version of the ECU program. I haven’t checked my other cars, but I have the same scanner and if I get bored one day, I will.

If that is the case likely all MB has that then.

They don’t all have the 90% ethanol statement in the owner’s manual, so I think maybe not. This piqued my curiosity again and I want to check my C250, whose manual which has no mention of it.

Mine says:
! Do not use the following:
  • E85 (gasoline with 85% ethanol)
  • E100 (100% ethanol)
(Which I wouldn't do anyhow, since it's a Diesel...)

GLK350, C250, GLB250 manuals all say max 10% ethanol, no methanol, and a few other things. E320 was the only one that ever mentioned that. A few coworkers with W211s didn’t have the 90% ethanol thing in their manuals, either. Can’t find anything online about it.
