I leaned on my front grill and the top black plastic crumbled. First on the left side back in September. Now the right side. I guess due to age plastic becomes brittle. Here is a picture of the new grill. It's an upgrade from original.

What's the upgrade? I don't see an "upgrade" nor do I see a downgrade. I see a grille with a different design.
[QUOTE=m00nd0gy;8949889]Maybe you didn't understand, allow me to explain it slowly. FYI It is an upgrade from the standard grill to the AMG GT appearance grill.
Maybe you didn't understand. Let me explain it quickly for you... it's not an upgrade (unless it's made from a less brittle plastic or the vertical slats help reduce vulture strikes from damaging the radiator versus the horizontal slats). It's an appearance change. Appearance.
MBKLUE, don'tcha know that bit of plastic, being a genu-wine AMG knock-off, will make anyone's GLK two seconds quicker through the quarter mile, and will increase grip so you can pull 1.5g's in the corners. ;-)
All joking aside, some will like the look, others (myself included) don't. But we all do things to our vehicles to make them different, and I've seen a lot (!) worse!
Based on your logic or lack of. An AMG option is not an upgrade. That's ok, each to their own. I chose this grille because it was 1/2 the replacement price, plus it looks cool. I'm giving it away to my kid anyway.
I think the original grill makes the car look distinctive and bold. Sort of in your face and says I am ready to go! Easily spotted from blocks away. But amazing what you can buy from China and make your car upgraded LOL. I have the AMG appearance package can I put a AMG decal on the car
@habbyguy Would be nice to go quicker but I want better fuel economy as well.

You don't want the extra grip with associated increase in G-forces unless you also get the AMG oil pan with additional baffles. Otherwise you're looking at oil starvation.
I've also seen much, much worse. Boldly stating it's an "upgrade" is, well, a little bit bold. A person could simply state they changed their broken grille for an AMG grille and they love the new look.

An AMG option is not an automatic or by default upgrade but that's what they try to "sell" people. Kind of like McDonald's staff asking if you would like to upgrade your meal to an 85 oz. Coke and a one-pound mega bag of fries for only an extra $$.
If you like the look AND saved 50% it's a win/win for you. I get it. No argument.
And don't just give the grille to your kid. Give him the whole dang car when the time comes. 😉
Wow you know I meant the whole car, right. Not sure what anyone would do with just the grill lol. I guess it could be by experience, what kind grille did you give away? I'm curious.
Mesh installed. Should I get the AMG emblem for the grille. My GLK 350 does have the factory AMG appearance option.

I had no way of knowing you meant the whole car but I assumed you did and thus the winky face.
The only grille I ever gave away was actually a grill. That was some years ago and it was a Weber Smokey Joe.
Definitely get the AMG emblem but see if they have one that's backlit. That would be the way to go. If no backlit option maybe a double-chrome finish or a blacked-out AMG emblem. Either would be a powerful statement.
There is no AMG option for the GLK. There is an AMG appearance option that gives a different bumper and more chrome and different coloured roof rails, 20 inch tires with upgraded wheels. Sadly that does not make it an AMG otherwise Mercedes would have labelled the car AMG and boosted the price. If you put and AMG decal on the car other Mercedes owners would just shake their heads at you.
It's the same with M-sport BMWs. Yeah, they sport some cosmetic differences, but they're FAR from an M-car. An M-badged 325i ain't gonna hang with an M3 at the track. ;-)
Back when i purchased the car, it was factory option. For the same price as the basic 20" wheel upgrade, the dealer got me the AMG package. Which included a few additional bits. Why not. Here is the new grill installed. Definitely looks better than broken original grille and I saved a few bux.

The Option is in the brochure. If you read it, and understand what you read, you have answered your own question.
