Anyone have rats/mice eat through REAR seatbelts???
I have a 2015 GLK 350. About 3 weeks ago I noticed that the rear passenger and rear driver side seatbelts were fraying. Note: seatbelt in the middle was fine. I had no idea what was causing this and was fairly shocked and concerned about the safety risk.
Mercedes gave me a loaner, and put in new seatbelts. The loaner was the 2025 version of my car (the GLE 300).
When I went to pick up my car, I was told that there was an indication that a rat/mouse was responsible for chewing through the seatbelts. We then discovered that the same thing happened to the loaner car while it was in my possession. Hence, whatever access point existed in the 2015, still exists in the 2025.
Jump forward 3 weeks to today, and I noticed this morning that the brand new belts installed in my car have once again been chewed!!
My wife drives a car by another manufacturer (not Mercedes). She parks her car in the same garage, two feet away from my car, and her seatbelts are fine. So, there is something unique about Mercedes that gives the rats/mice an access point.
Google searches are not yielding many results, so I'm posting here to see if anyone has ever experienced this, or even heard of anyone else experiencing this.
Thank you.

Once they get in, they leave a scent trail that leads them and others in the family back to a safe place with resources.
We had an IH Scout where the squirrels (rats with fluffy tails) ate through the vents, got in the car, tore up the seats and floor covering.
Try those putting in a couple of those packets of bait that cause them to get thirsty then die outside. It worked on the squirrels.

Then, start mouse proofing your garage!

But it’s been fun.
