Bigger Fuel Tank?
And the GLK's gas tank is 17.4 gallons which is larger than other compact SUVs in the same class.
If longer range is what you're after, the diesel option can go up to 700 miles on a full tank. But then you're going to deal with all of the issues specific to diesels that most people (1) don't know about, or (2) are not able to afford maintaining.

Shouldn't you be figuring mm/cc? .0063 M/cc = 10139 mm/cc

Just saw this on the Must Have Options thread: 916 FUEL TANK WITH LARGE VOLUME - VOLUME 1 - don't really know what that's all about...

Interesting. I don't recall that being an option when I ordered my Gasser. Maybe it was just an option for the Diesel although that wouldn't make much sense since the Diesel gets much better fuel mileage to start with. Maybe there was a little more free space available with just the DEF tank vs. a spare tire??

Understood but I still don't get the "option" part, unless, that applies only to the Diesel. What I do know is I hang my head in sadness as I watch the Diesel GLKs drive by as I'm standing at the gas station filling up again :-( I always wished there had been the option of a smaller-engined Gasser for the U.S market.

The OM651 is a 2.1L 4-cyl that puts out 201HP in stock form. That's 100HP/L and 369 Lbs-Ft torque to boot.

110 HP/L or even more is OK if the engine is designed from the ground up with the proper metallurgy, bearings, wear surfaces. But on the M271 they took a 150 HP engine and stuck direct injection and a turbo on it without much else. They work, but require a lot of maintenance beyond what the owners manual indicates. Then they didn't do a much better job on the M274 or M260/264.
We've had Benzes for decades now and at least 2 in the family and business fleet. There had never been a critical engine failure on any of the V6s or V8s. Since we started getting 4 cylinder gasoline engines in 2013, we've had 3 that failed seriously. I'm "falling out of love" with these turbo 4s.
I think we're getting off the original topic.

I don't think it I an option in the common sense of the word. It's listed on the build sheet because it is on the car. The sheet also lists the front drive shafts, because it has the 4Matic option, but I wouldn't say there was a choice of drive shafts. (All US GLK250s were 4Matic, as far as I know.)
