multiple dash error lights

My dash is telling me my R&L indicators don't work (they do) Dash indicates my blind spot assist doesn't work. Days later my rear camera stopped working, high beams don't work and cruise control doesn't work. Dash then indicated traction control and abs don't work along with tire pressure monitor. Dash lite up like a Christmas tree. Had it in to a service station where a mechanic claimed he works on MB but he gave up after half a day. Any ideas?

Welcome to the Forum.

Crazy wild guess ... bad battery or alternator.

If a mechanic "familiar with MB" spends hours and can't figure out the problem, I'd avoid them.

For the stuff that doesn't require the engine to be running, do they work ? (like high beams or rear camera)

Battery voltage

Had a buddy check the battery voltage and it's normal. Put in new back up battery. No change

So you don’t know if you have proper voltage , only a meter can tell you . Alternators go bad . Low voltage is the usual cause of what you are experiencing. The main battery is the question

Alternator

So even if main battery test is good, a bad alternator could be the problem? Should have mentioned its a 2014 GLK Diesel.

It's possible. What assists with power when it's running (?)

The alternator recharges the car's battery while the engine is running.

The alternator supplies power to the car's electrical components, such as the headlights.

The alternator ensures that the car's electrical systems receive a constant supply of electricity.

There's also a possibility that there is a "bad electrical connection" somewhere.

One reason I asked the question, which NEVER got answered:
"For the stuff that doesn't require the engine to be running, do they work ? (like high beams or rear camera)"

12.9 is 100%, 12.75 is about 90%, 12 is too low and about 50%. How was it tested. It should not drop to much when cranking . What you described is a voltage issue . Did it do the same thing after you put a charger on it ? I would put a charger on it if it’s an AGM battery charger needs an AGM cycle to fully charge it . If battery holds voltage but has no power, being bad, that could cause the problem. A bad regulator can cause charge issues . The alternator itself lasts , but you have to remove the alternator to replace the regulator. You should find out how the battery is performing first , the rest voltage , drop when starting , a load test. I would charge it first

High beams

High beams don't work and rear camera don't work while car is running. I'll check when my wife gets home, see if they work when engine is off

How long have you had your GLK? Any recent-ish accident repairs, re-painting, electrical modifications or additions? Flood vehicle?

How many miles/kilometers on the car?

Are battery terminals and cable connections cleaned with a wire brush terminal tool? If yes and battery checks out then I have no idea .

I would check for water intrusion into the SAM, especially if you keep the car outdoors and this behavior happens to coincide with a heavy downpour.

A SAM is "Signal Acquisition Module" - it's a central electronic control unit that receives data from various sensors and switches throughout the vehicle, then sends signals to activate different components like lights, windows, and locks; essentially acting as a hub for managing various electrical functions within the vehicle.

If I remember correctly, there's two on our 2014 GLK 350 Base - one under the hood on driver side and one in the rear "trunk" compartment.
(don't hold me to the number and locations, because I've yet to deal with them).
