One thing that helped me a lot was to have a bright light to see in there, but what really helped was to loosen all the screws on the right side of the dashboard / glove box / everything else
because it was such a tight fit. All the plastic pieces were just too tightly jammed together. Once I did that it twisted in place easily. Just be sure you are starting it in the correct orientation before trying to twist it on place. If not correct, it'll never work. You'll get it!

I compared it to the OEM one side-by-side, took a file and trimmed down the small plastic hook, after that it went right in

I did not mention to remove anything, simply loosen the screws mentioned. It seems that mine was a very tight fit against other parts and simply needed a little more room. I gained a little more room for the assembly to fit by loosening the screws in surrounding plastic pieces (this allowed other parts to move slightly, out of the way). To be totally honest, I don't remember removing the glove box, but it was a while ago and sometimes memories fade, lol. I do remember pulling on the lower lip of the dash assembly to try to move it away from the heater system. I then easily (luckily?) fitted the assembly into place. You must install it in the correct orientation or it will never fit.
When you have the fan assembly installed, rotated, and locked into place, re tighten all the screws that were loosened. Definitely a difficult fit!
